I don't think collagen, from any source, is a complete protein.  Also I have never seen a label listing specific amino acids and amount.  Maybe I have just missed it?  If they are promoting 'peptides' they should be more transparent.

So I would not bother buying such a product.  Better ways to get your protein.

@Still Raining

The one I take lists their amino acid profile on the label including grams of each amino acid contained in each serving.

Amino acid profiles in collagen supps change depending on the sources from which they have been made. They are natural products,  the amino acid profiles vary and cannot be controlled in the lab. That's why you don't usually see profiles placed on product labels.

Still only 8 essential ones.  So not complete.

I am more focused on getting all the essential if I am supplementing.  Just me.

Reposting from the post in the wellness forum....

I have used several brands over the years including andrew lessman but this is my current favorite. It has good reviews on amazon & the amino acid profile is impressive for a collagen protein.  I noticed my hair doesn't shed as much. I take 1 scoop of the unflavored eventhough recommended dose is 2 scoops.

@Still Raining

There are 9 essentials so 8 out of 9 is not bad for a supp. The one missing is tryptophan which can be sourced easily from many foods.

Re: Collagen users - what is it doing for you?

@Hellcat64 @That.s the benefit for me too, and it's also why I started takng it 10 years ago. I wouldn't be without it. I've only taken Andrew Lessman's and at first it was the marine formula. When it got too expensive for me I switched to the free range.
