So I've been using a scoop of Vital Proteins most days. I tried it because of hair shedding.
It might helping to reduce shed, but that could also be the folate/B-12 supplement I began at the same time. Tthe only empirical evidence collagen has made any change in my body is that my nails grow like crazy. I was hoping they would get healthier but no, they just grow at annoying speed.
What are your benefits? Thanks!

I had to stop taking collagen powder since after a while, it really started messing with my stomach and making me bloated. I got caught up in the hype about collagen powder and tried it out for about 6 months. My bloating and stomach cramps stopped as soon as I stopped taking collagen supplements. I'm sure collagen powder is great for a lot of people, but it just didn't agree with me. I get a lot of collagen through my diet by way of chicken, beef, lamb, fish, leafy greens, citrus fruit, tomatoes, nuts, and beans.

I can't take collagen powder either. My stomach has spoken!
When it's a civilized temp outside I drink bone broth. Right now, I can't do anything but be hot and complain.

@Squirrels Are Trash Collagen powder is a no go for me too- I had to throw it all down the drain and vow to never ever take it again.
Bone broth and meat broths are so delicious and so high in collagen. I like to get Vietnamese pho soup sometimes and I'll order beef broth with vermicelli noodles, brisket, flank, tendon and tripe- tons of collagen and so delicious and high in protein too. I can't handle hot weather either- It doesn't get that hot in my city, but anything over 80 degrees feels too hot to me!

I've found that taking collagen peptides have really helped my joints. I used to have hip issues but am feeling great now. Have been taking collagen for 4 years.

Unfortunately for me, it causes tummy troubles. I can't say if it did very much though I only took it for 6 months.

I just can't handle the aftertaste and that was only 1/4 of the dose. It's the same aftertaste I get with every protein powder I've ever tried..

I have taken 2 scoops of Ancient Nutrition multi collagen protein for 1 1/2 years. I put it in an almond or coconut milk fruit smoothie. I had terrible hair loss in the front above my forehead. All my hair loss has filled in. My hair is thicker and longer than ever. My nails are stronger. And I have no knee pain anymore. My knee pain had been so bad for the last 5 years I could no longer walk on my treadmill, and had pain at night sleeping. My sister had the same results with her knee and joint pain. I am 70 years old the doctors just wanted to give me injections in my knees so I could walk. I am very happy with it.

@tried it all That's wonderful that collagen has helped you ![]()
! I think its great for people who can handle collagen supplements. I love collagen based skincare and I eat food rich in collagen, but I just couldn't handle the collagen powder.

People with sensitive stomachs will most likely do better with marine collagen peptide supps. The reason is b/c marine collagen molecules are much smaller in size than are bovine collagen molecules. The smaller size makes them more bioavailable, easier to digest and less goes out to waste.
My health care provider suggested I take a collagen supp b/c I have been on a Rx bone-building drug (Evenity) where my bones have been redensifying and using more collagen to make the new bone. But other than that I can't say the collagen supp has done anything else for the rest of my body. There is no scientific proof that it actually does anything. The reported results are based on speculation, personal experiences and not on actual test results.
