Re: Collagen Question for SilleeMee

@SilleeMee  What is the difference between tretinoil & retinol?  Why do you prefer tretinoil?

I use PT Roth retinol & like it since it bursts at different times. Why do you th think Paula's Choice is better?

 Curious about this & have missed prior discussions. Thanks!

@AZfem

Tretinoin is twenty times stronger than retinol. Tretinoin is a Rx drug and it's the only product that the FDA has classified as 'anti-aging. No other product can do what tret does. It's like no other product ever made.Tret addresses most all of the signs of aging. Retinol doesn't.

Paula's Choice retinol comes in an airless pump container and it actually says on the bottle that it's 1% retinol. Retinol is an unstable substance and it's destroyed by light and air. Paula's Choice product is highly effective and will remain so until the last drop.

Re: Collagen Question for SilleeMee

@Icegoddess thank you for sharing your experience and telling me which one you purchase!  I still have over half a tube of the tretinoin, so I am going to start in with it again building up my usage using the sandwich method that another poster so kindly described.  Yes...the flakes I get are from my nose down.

@Ainhisg

One other thing you might want to try with your tret is wiping away the tret (no washing with cleanser, water only with soft cloth) after one hour has passed. Most of the tret will be absorbed into the skin by then and what is left on the surface is what usually causes irritation/flaking. Once tret is absorbed it's not easily rubbed off the skin. What goes in is there to stay. One of the biggest mistakes people make when using tret is applying too much at once. That causes problems.

Tret's mode of action happens below the surface of the skin. Any tret left on the surface is what mostly causes irritation.

Re: Collagen Question for SilleeMee

@SilleeMee , I started 0.25 Retin A...today, day 4, I see very slight flakiness.   I have Tatchas rice polish...I wonder if that'll help slough off flakes??   I'll try tomorrow morning.   If not, ill search for another exfoliant. My Retin A was prescribed by my derm, for other reasons,  but ill take all the help it can offer.

@Dazlin

Sounds good to me. Whatever you do to get rid of the flakes, just be sure not to do it prior to applying your tret. Exfoliate in the morning. Apply tret at night.

I've never used the rice polish. I think it's a very gentle exfoliant from what I've read about it. Probably good for daily use. But if you need more exfoliation maybe try a once-weekly chemical exfoliant such as glycolic acid.

Re: Collagen Question for SilleeMee

@SilleeMee , ok, thank you!   I read that a chemical exfoliating is better to remove flakes after the Trent.  I'm not sure if Tatcha is chemical....all I see is it's an enzyme polish.    If I resort to the glycolic, I have one I like from Alpha, its a serum, think 14%...ill skip a night on Trent and use it that night.   Will try Tatcha tomorrow morning.

I used retinA for years and years and it really did make my skin lovely.

Once LP set in, I stopped the retinA for no particular reason but I'm starting to feel like I'm should add it back in?

I see absolutely no results with retinol. (?)

I wear spf 100 sunscreen...I believe retinA is what brought me to this age with so few wrinkles.

Yes! I would definitely go back to using Retin-A. It slows the aging process.
