Re: Clarisonic issues and warning

This type of battery is meant to be drained DEEPLY, then FULLY charged before it's used again. It's made to do this over and over, and thrives on frequent use.

I don't charge until its nearly drained. No short cycle charging. Im told that eventually leads to the battery being unable to take or hold a charge.

And when I'm not using my Clairsonic that day I run it thru a 2 minute cycle anyhow. These batteries like regular use, not sitting unused for long periods.

I inherited two Clarisonics from my mom.  They are basically unused, as she got sick and was not able to use them.  They both charged up just fine.  The Pro would not turn on.  The Plus turned on, but when I went to use it again a week later, would not turn on.  Of course, they are out of warranty.  Clarisonic advised that these machines have batteries that should be charged at least every month or two.  I'm writing to warn others that if they aren't using their machines to at least keep them charged.  I'd also like to know if others have faced this issue or know any hacks to fix this.  I know there are YouTube videos about opening them and replacing batteries, but I'm not very good at that sort of thing. Please let me know your thoughts and/or ideas.  Thanks!

PS  Has anyone had a good experience with any of the knock off products?

I am facing this issue now, pun intended. QVC and Clarisonic have some amends to make, because this is some shady stuff. Coming up on this episode of AMerican Greed.....  I use the mia fit once a day, and after 5-6 months it isn't holding a charge for more than a few days, and it was over 160 bucks. I'm not shutting up and coloring, letting go, forvgiving, no Zen, no Yoda, on this this one. This is war. They underestimate the power of the force (of lawyers).

I wanted to give an update. I threw a bit of a fit to customer service, and they accepted and are processing my return. I will clebrate once I see it on my credit card statement. Clarisonic was going to replace it, but no refund. So give it a try, if you've had problems. Unless you're a serial returner, they are usually good abou that stuff. More prasie to come to them, once I see it on my card Smiley HappySmiley Surprised

@x Hedge...I agree! I always let both my Mias drain before recharging. Perhaps this is why they've lived such a long, productive life and are still going strong!

@x Hedge

When you say drain "deeply" do you mean when the unit light starts glowing off and on? I have the Mia 2 and the instructions say this is when you're supposed to charge it and I do, overnight. I've had this unit for almost a year and I think I've done this three times so far. I use the unit once a day.

Hi @Texasmouse. Yes, wait till it it signals you that it needs charging, then charge till it's back up too 100%.

If you have the style that sits upright in the charging platform and you want to store it there, make sure the charging platform isn't left plugged in 24/7.

And run it through a cycle every day, whether you use it or not.

So lets say you buy a new Clairsonic.

Charge it fully, then unplug or remove from charger.

Run it through a cycle daily whether you use it on your skin or not.

Recharge to 100% when it signals you to recharge.

By the way, your phone battery is like this.

People often put their partially drained phone on the charger just because they have a chance to, and take it off the charger before it's fully charged because they want to take it with them when they leave.

I'm told charging frequent short cycles like that, based on opportunity, eventually "teaches" the battery not to take or hold a full charge.

i recently threw away two like new Clarisonics as I did not know to keep them plugged in..... they were dead. I will never again spend a dime on this. Bought the Foreo Luna and love it!

@SeaMaiden

same with me......i threw away three clarisonics that were not even two years old. i switched over to the foreo lunas and am VERY happy with the job they do and the length of time they hold a charge. i also recently bought the pop leaf sonic to try and that seems to be quite good also.

Re: Clarisonic issues and warning

Still issues with Clarisonic. Customer service is non-existant unless you can call during the day while you are at work. Why no longer hours so they could actually help customers. They have an online chat, which automatically refers you to the phone number, which tells you they are closed outside normal business hours.  Meanwhile, I paid a lot of money for a device that quit charging six months after I bought it.

I've had other problems with QVC doing business with companies whose products die in six months, have no warranty or no way to easily contact the company for answers. Very disappointed in QVC and Clarisonic.

Re: Clarisonic issues and warning

I too inherited a Clarisonic from my mom...she owned it for 2 years without using is once.  When I recieved the Clarisonic was dead.  I searched all over the internet...considered buying a small soldering iron to fix it but im really not that handy.  I came across the put it in the freezer suggestion and thought that woman is crazy.  haha    I was just going to throw it away but put it in the freezer instead and forgot about it for a couple of days.

Lo and behold....it works!!  Yes...it works!!  I have to apologized to Kat 213 cuz I thought she was nuts!!

I hope others read this and it works for them as well!!

Re: Clarisonic issues and warning

After reading this, I put my Clairisonic (not the charger) in the freezer overnight. Nothing happened when I first put it in the charger, but after a few hours, it charged and when I turned it on, it worked!!! I let it sit on the charger and used it as normal in my shower tonight. Thanks so much for this tip!!!
