I have had my Clarisonic for MANY years and it's going strong. I used to use Cerave as the cleanser with no problems.

I recently had to quit using WEN - my hair was falling out at the dermatologist said that it was "contact dermatitis." (another issue!!!) I had a LOT of WEN left over, so I started using it as a face wash and a shaving cream.

Today when I went to clean and change out my Clarasonic head, to my great horror it was FILLED with black mold. Both the disposable head AND the inside was filled with black gunk. This never happened to me in the past - and I've had this Clarasonic for at least 7-8 years.

Does anyone know if WEN might have caused this? I am assuming that it is pure and doesn't have artificial preservatives...hence the mold.

Does anyone use WEN successfully with their Clarasonic?

Suggestions?

@terrier3 - I have a Mia Clarisonic and use Wen to wash my face - I've never had a mold problem with my Clarisonic

So sorry to hear of this problem for you.  I could not use Wen as my cleanser with my Clarisonic because the product would gather up too much under the brush head.  Just made more of a mess than I was willing to deal with.

Tatcha,Dr.Perricone and Prescriptives cleansers work well with the Clarisonic for me.

Re: Clarisonic Question

[ Edited ]

No.  I think anything can cause it.I recently found this too  and I do not use WEN on my

face hardly ever. I was shocked too. I think we just have to unscrew it often and rince it

out and let it air dry.I also spray the brush with bleach after each use ,but that did not help with the mold

edited to ask:~~~

if those that do NOT find mold unscrew their brushes off  often?

Re: Clarisonic Question

I use a Clarisonic regularly. Would NEVER put Wen on anything ever. I have never had a problem with mold in the Clarisonic.

Hopefully you used some bleach to clean the machine!

Yes...I used LOTS of bleach!!!! And a new brush too. The mold had even gotten into the drainage holes!

@terrier3 - Are you removing the brush head every time you use it? I take mine off wash it and the machine - let dry and reattach when I'm ready to use - I've used other face washes as well and never had a problem

I use Wen and my clarisonic every night and have never had this issue.  I make sure to never put on the brush cover when the bristles are still wet and let it air dry.

I use it about 3 times a week and wash it and air dry it once a week or so.

I would suggest taking it apart every time you are finished, wash and dry each piece separately - there might be moisture seeping in creating this problem
