Is the orchid a permanent color ? You might need a color remover  like  previously mentioned. If it’s a temporary color, get as much as you can out with a strong shampoo like a clarifying one .

I know what you mean about men and compliments, when I wear  lilac hair, it’s crazy how men stop me and say I love your hair 😊

@Azcowgirl

Though the container indicates semi-permanent and it has faded some, I'd really call it a permanent color.  Based on responses ahead of yours, yes, I'm going to use a color remover.  So great to have meaningful responses!

I love that you're getting those responses from guys, too!

@sfnative  Glad to help.  My mom is a hairdresser so I am slightly dangerous on this topic.

If I were to color my hair again (silver now) would have my stylist do the color.

No way! Ever attempt myself. Now many women experience amazing results coloring their hair and that's wonderful. But! That wouldn't be my experience.

My stylist loves my silver hair and told me again this week mentioned might enjoy playing with Lavender or Pink streaks after seeing someone on YT do it.

More than sure someone on the forum will help you with suggestions.

@Sweet_Serenity

Unfortunately, I simply don't have the bucks for a stylist any longer.  Ticks me off, but what can I say.  Did try the "national chains," but errors abounded!!!  OMG!  I can always do better, except when it comes to a cut.

When we moved here, I was referred to a stylist who kept going on and on about the aurora borealis colors in my white hair.  All the while it was clear there wasn't a day gone by that I didn't hate it.  She just wasn't listening to me.  Stopped going to her.

Then when people, services, doctor's offices, etc., started treating me like an old lady, I decided recently that I'd had enough of the generational c..p.  The city I live in is supposed to be the most tolerant in the U.S., but in truth is just the opposite.

@Squirrel Lover

Thanks for your concern, but I cannot afford the $185.00 this will cost me!

Given the advice provided below, I feel confident I can remove the now somewhat faded purple strip, condition said hair stripe, wash and condition several times before coloring and go to it.  Since I've been coloring my hair for quite a few years without issues, I'm confident I can make this happen, with this new information on board.  If not, then I'll just get a pixie haircut and color my hair brown (ick).

@elated

Have no idea whether there is a beauty school in our area.  If Super Cuts can't get color right, can a beauty school?  I don't know.  I'll check.  Thanks.

See if you can get L'Oréal Effasol at Sally Beauty Supply.  It is a professional product and some places will not sell it to you. I think Amazon has it too.

The directions will say to mix with peroxide.  Mix with water instead. Work fast....use a color brush. Apply only to the purple stripe.  Your hair is stained purple.  You will need to try to get the stain out.

Do not leave on for too long and do not get the solution on your natural hair color. Follow the directions for the product, expect for the peroxide.

Best of luck.

This is what would be done in my hair salon.  I have removed color from hair many times.  Those stains can be stubborn to get out.  Effasol works, but it is very harsh.. that's why I suggested to mix with water...still effective, but less harsh.

Re: Changing Hair Color: Question re Weird Issue

@sfnative  You first need to lift the color out (purple) before you use any other color.  Maybe go to a salon to have this done.  Then you can color it as you wish or also have it done professionally.  The people sound backward in your city if they comment and/or treat you differently because of your white hair color.  Shame on them.  Don't let anyone dictate who you are white hair and all.  Cat Happy

Re: Changing Hair Color: Question re Weird Issue

Why not just use a really strong shampoo with sulfates in it and wash that particular bit of hair repeatedly? That's how the semi permanent dye is supposed to gradually wash out. Just speed it up a bit?

I would love the added respect of being treated like an old lady, but would seethe at any accompanying condescension. More power to you. If others allow themselves to be influenced by your appearance, then it makes perfect sense for you to control what you are showing them.

Re: Changing Hair Color: Question re Weird Issue

@sfnative  Just a suggestion and what I would do:  go to a Sally's and ask for the person who specializes in color to ask about your stripe,  Then I'd go to a Sprout's (often on sale here but could be bought elsewhere) and purchase Naturtint 8N Wheat Germ Blonde.  It is not as harsh for your hair as some products and from your desired colors that you listed, you might find it is what you are looking for: a very natural neutral blonde with a hint of golden cast.  This will be much more reasonable than your $185.  Good luck!

Re: Changing Hair Color: Question re Weird Issue

Please DO NOT USE color remover or Color Oops!! You won't get your virgin hair back!  it just get damaged by the color remover, Your hair will suffer for it and when you color the new tint will grab that section and the color result will be darker or muddy.

I would consult with a colorist.  You can book a consultation, they shouldnt charge for this.
