I've had an old one for years and years. I've heard the newer ones don't work as well, but have no idea if that is true. Anyway, my hair is very straight and not too thick. When I use this, I always do my hair a few hours before going somewhere and I use a bunch of rollers. I leave the rollers in about 20 mins and just as soon as I take them out, I brush my hair out. My hair is several inches past my shoulders. It's still too curly and big for me then, but in a few hours it's perfect. Lots of body and not too much curl. I don't use it much-usually curling or flat iron, but when I do someone always sets wow, your hair looks really good today. If that helps...

I've found when my hair comes out too damp it's because I left the curler on the steamer thing too long and it gets too wet :-)
