Re: Careful. I May Have Just Experienced a Scam (Failure)

I was watching a presentation from a local police department.  They said scammers get a ton of information from facebook.

Re: Careful. I May Have Just Experienced a Scam (Failure)

I have had my Amazon account suspended many times.  Funny, it doesn't keep me from ordering and receiving items.  The delivery problem E-mails don't come from "Amazon".  They come from "UPS" or "USPS".  Now, why would those entities have my cell phone number or E-mail address?

I've also had the IRS call my cell phone and leave a message that they're trying to find me.  I've lived at the same address for over 20 years.

I got a Text yesterday that someone had charged $300 at Target in CA to my Morgan Chase account.  I don't have a MC account.  I do have a Chase card, but that's not the same thing.

Thank you for the warning.  I get some scams from people, too.  It is a shame that these people have nothing to do but this.

There was a time when the gas & electric thing was going around-trying to get me to change from Duke. One day I just got fed up and said to the guy, 'we don't have electricity.' Silence. I guess he was thinking about it then he said, kind of in awe, 'what do you use?' I told him we use the fireplace and candles and something else but I forget what I said. I really had him going. But pretty soon there was a click. HE hung up on Me which is a new one!!

Re: Careful. I May Have Just Experienced a Scam (Failure)

I get them all the time for missing a UPS delivery and please go to the site in the link on my cell phone to reschedule.  I went to my PC and put the link in and it is a store in my T. town that as a UPS station in it.  But since every one of my UPS deliveries for the past 26 years comes to my desk here at my office I knew it was a scam.  But for them to go to all that trouble to find an actual UPS location means they are serious.

Plus it helped that I knew I had nothing on order at that time.  I just delete all those text and emails.  Some are Walmart and Amazon as well.

I do the same thing at the office when I get calls about our contract regarding the copier ect.....  I tell them we do not have a copier or a printer, fax ect....   They always hang up after stumbling over there own breath.

What got me was the timing.  If it wasn't for that, I may have just dismissed it.  Not 30 seconds after my delivery, I got this email.  I don't think it was a coincidence and that means their (scammers) fingers are more deeply woven in my business than I thought Smiley Surprised Kinda spooky.

Sounds like they were tracking it. I'm not especially well acquainted with amazon policies but the first thing I thought about is if you have a public wish list. I'd contact amazon and do a little probing to figure out how they were able to send it to you.

Wow @leigh you super sleuth you!  You're right!  I wasn't even aware I had a wish list.  There are 4 items in it.  I wonder if I meant to "save for later".  The item that was delivered wasn't on my wish list tho.  I've made it private

Hi @monicakm

I heard something somewhere about wish lists. You know how thay is, and it stuck in my mind. I have no idea how theyd find it so I just googled and itounds like you have to share it for someone to see it so now I don't know. Maybe what I heard a while back was an issue and has been fixed. I think you might want to get in touch with amazon cs because they'd know best. I hate weird stuff like this.
