I am still struggling with any face product I use: i.e., liquidation foundation, cream foundation, sun screen, concealers, etc., leaving my face shiny and also the fact that the product rubs off unless I wear a finishing powder.
Will a setting spray help with these issues? Do you use a powder and then a setting spray?
I have never used a setting spray before. Never thought I wanted to. However, I am not happy with how finishing powders or any powders are making me look older. But I need something to tone down my other facial products and also help my makeup stay on.
So, not sure what I need? Also, whatever product I use or is recommended, would need to be fragrance free.
Thanks for your help!

If your powder contains talc, that's your problem. Talc accentuates wrinkles and lines, making mature skin look worse. Find a talc free powdered foundation like Bare Minerals. When all your makeup is done, you can put a talc free finishing powder over it.
I spray a setting mist over my powder for better staying power.

I use Bare Minerals original loose foundation, concealer and veil in the summer. I consider the veil my setting powder. I have combo skin in my (almost) 50's, and crinkles at eyes and nasal folds but no major wrinkles in general. Lasts for me all day, even at a water park yesterday taking waves at the wave pool directly at the face most of the day. 🙂 But with my liquid, used the rest of the year, I started using IT poreless pressed talc free powder this spring. What a difference, and I stocked up, my new must have! I had tried the loose formula of the same product and hated it, and Laura M. loose original that has talc, and detested both. Maybe the veil or IT pressed will work for you.
ETA I do use the Tarte Life Lock setting spray but not sure it does much except cool me down and does not dry me out, which is worth it when I grab for those purposes. As far as claims of working for 16+ hrs, etc I never had that experience. But, I did also love the Urban Decay All Nighter back in my early-mid 40's over liquid but not sure why I moved away from it.

Setting sprays are meant to go over most powders including setting powders.

I hate product on my face because of the oil too. I'm in my 70s and still have a very oily T zone.
I finally tried an oil-free, silicone-free, CC cream and it worked well. Anastasia is my favorite but any good brand that deoesn't have oil and silicone seems to work too.

My very fave setting powder is by MAC--is white in the compact but goes on clear. I also use BE mineral veil. My skin is dry but I moisturize and have not had issues with this powder settling in those lines--fortunately, I don't have many lines/wrinkles on my face. Don't think I have ever used a setting spray.

setting spray is a game changer for me. Especially in hot humid weather. Makeup will not budge.

I would hate to change all of my other face products. I guess just looking for a talc free powder that is for mature skin and is fragrance free is what I am needing. Will the product specifically indicate "no talc"? I mean, I know ingredients on makeup items have some really weird names so are there other names which indicate the presence of talc?? Thank you.

Sounds a bit confusing. Thank you!
