Re: Can you recommend good electric rollers?

@house_cat

Exciting!

Sorry I didn’t return back!

My hair is fine and thin. So the texture is very different from yours. I had ordered two sets of hot rollers from Amazon and returned both.

My hair has turned gray (underneath the color) and it has gotten very unmanageable.

My Calista hot rollers set I don’t think gets hot enough and I didm’t have any small rollers. (the cost for three small rollers ordered a-la-carte is exorbitant IMO) so my decision was for the vintage Clairol set!

Enjoy your rollers and would you please post about your experience here?

Good luck!

Re: Can you recommend good electric rollers?

If it's about curling the hair, I've tried it.  I had the Clairol Kindness set back when I was in high school, right along with my Clairol True to Light makeup mirror.

Over the past several years I've tried several different brands/styles of hot rollers and other styling tools.  Most of the time I just use a Perfecter to turn my ends under.  For a full head of curls, I felt like the old Calista Tools set (open base that the rollers would be placed on) worked best for my hair but it didn't last long - a section of the base stopped working.  I thought it was probably faulty wiring so I stopped using it altogether.  After that I decided to go a different route.  I bought velcro rollers with a metal barrel.  I don't do a full head of curls often, but when I do it's now my go-to, to roll my hair when it's damp, use the blow dryer with the concentrater to finish the drying process and heat the rollers us sufficiently.  I leave them in while I do other things - have coffee, check email, do makeup, make the bed, whatever.  Yes, I have to use styling product in my hair and I use clamps or clips to make them stay in my hair, but when I take the rollers out, voila.  Plus I like that they're lightweight and easily transportable if I want to take them along when we travel.  FYI, my hair is fine and there's less of it than I used to have, but it works for me.  This method might not work for someone with lots of thick hair.

Thank you for responding.

I like your method, so I may look into curling my hair your way.

Re: Can you recommend good electric rollers?

@Starpolisher  I have been finding in my 61st new year of life after trying every doggone thing that comes up the pike that oldies are goodies!

I hear you on those and threw mine out several years ago...or donated.. I forget lol! But they were the best.

Now, some larger ones I saw at Bedbath and Beyond are over 100.00!

Same kind of thing, same outcome too. Just upgraded $$ copies of oldies.

Many complain they fall out being too heavy (and I have thin hair).

Love the old tried and trues!

Re: Can you recommend good electric rollers?

I thought I was the only one that still used hot rollers. I blow dry my hair, put the rollers in for about 10 minutes .. My rollers are about shot so I've enjoyed reading this thread.

Re: Can you recommend good electric rollers?

I purchased the T3 hot rollers and love them. I have fine hair so I like the velco covered rollers.  These work great for m needs.

Re: Can you recommend good electric rollers?

I have so many different versions of QVC's stuff they sell and the irony is I don't 'do' my hair (I wear a wig).

I keep thinking I should ask my friend what she has since her's is so quick if you blink it's hot.

Recently her electricity was out.  She came over to my house to do her hair.

No sooner had she walked in the door than she said, "OK!  Thanks!" and was out the door (her hair in curlers).  When she takes the curlers out her hair is very curly.

She has thick blonde hair that's a little below her shoulders.

I've never seen rollers heat up that fast!
