Can I use my ANSR device in the eye area?

I just received my ANSR device yesterday. When I used it for the first time yesterday I used it on my upper lid and lower lid area. Even though I had my eyes closed the red light was very bright through my eye lids. My eye balls were dry, red and irritated this morning and I was wondering if that was caused by the bright light. Just wondering if this device is safe for your eyes when using around the eye area. TIA
