@Shanus

I was watching a woman that blogs for 40's+ on how to look more modern.  I thought, "Let's see the current chatter".

One "hint" was to use a serum to grow eyebrows.  Her eyebrows were wider, but thicker (as in almost fuzzy) and very heavy.  All I could see was the darkness above her eye.  They certainly weren't beautiful brows like yours.

I never liked the pencil thin look of the 20's and 30's.

Is there a way to increase width without looking like a caterpillor?Smiley Happy

Thanks!

Hello @ECBG . what serum did she recommend?

I have been using Rimmel Lash Accelerator serum & black castor oil for months, no difference

I haven't gotten my eyebrows waxed in over a year.  I was overdue to begin with and then covid hit.  My eyebrows haven't looked this full in years.  All that non-stop waxing slowly but surely did a job on them.  The plucking of the wayward hair here, the not quite right a little more off here...really added up.  Are they like they were when I was 20?  No.  But the tails have filled in tremendously.

@AnnMarie-1 Very sorry, don't recall.  It was Busbee Style.  She's my favorite and has a heart of gold.

@ECBG  Happy Friday. Brows, brows, brows. I think I get the most questions (and complaints) about brows. My brows? No serums, but I do brush a little organic castor oil through them w/ a baby tooth brush at night...it does help them grow. Serums for brows and lashes are expensive and like the Minoxidil for hair growth, once you stop using it, the hairs you grew can stop or worse fall out....brows/lashes, too.

Doing brows don't have to be a challange if you don't expect perfection. Instagram perfect ly defined and filled in brows are OUT. Natural looking brows have always been IN.

Unless your hair is very dark, look for a cool taupe pencil. I've found 2...The IT Universal Taupe Brow pencil and the Trish McEvoy lightest of 2 shades brow pencils. Eye shadow is the most natural look. You're trying to create a shadow behind/under the brow hair for the most natural look. The pencil fills in the most bare spots and a clear or taupe brow gel hold the unruly hair in place. I think I mentioned that for shadows, I use the Bobbi Brown Brow Kit in Medium...sometimes the Light. I like the shades in both. there are 2 shadows in each kit about 2 shades apart to blend or just use one of them. I'm on the same kit for a year and haven't hit pan yet.

I start with a clear gel to hold the powder (I prefer Benefit Gimme Brow. Then the pencil only to fill in lightly empty areas and brush through to blend. The powder is natural looking enough to "enlarge" slightly the look of the brow...not the pencil. Remember you're creating a shadow behind the hair and that brow shadow going slightly beyond the perimeter is the most natural. Completely bare brows can never be Brooke Shield brows. You need to lower your expections and be more realistic. Also too heavy brows can over power your eyes making the upper part of your face look out of proportion.

My best suggestion is to go to a "brow bar" and make it clear you don't want thin brows...leave as much hair as possible. Have them shaped and filled in...ask for a natural, not too dark product and watch what they do. ***BTW. most shadow palettes, have a taupey crease shade that works fine.

Hope these hints help. Have an awesome weekend.

I hope this helps and have a safe weekend.

@Wsmom   I've had my brows done by someone else only once (documented w/ photo here). I can't do wax because the Retin A causes irritation on my skin, so she used tweezers. That was several years ago. I like how I "don't" shape them myself. Hairs sometimes don't grow back. You're right. I only tweeze the stray hair underneath and a few over my nose so no unibrow. I only tweeze once a week and if they look too unruly until I get to them, a little concealer brushed under the brow covers the hairs until I get to them. ***If you look at nice brows in fashion magazines, they aren't "over-groomed". Most are left natural, even some hairs not tweezed underneath...natural looking.

***Mybest advice when doing brows, walk away from a highly magnifying mirror!!! You'll take too many hairs. Lean back a little and look in a regular mirror after hair or two before proceding.

@ECBG Apologies for not getting back to you yesterday. It's rare I don't check in. Busy with 2 skincare clients and 2 bridal makeup sessions.

I don't understand this wedding planning...even small family gatherings planned in the late spring. One bride wanted over the top make and it took 30 minutes to talk her down. No luck, so I did the "full, unnatural face" knowing I'd be cleaning it off and starting over. She was horrified with the heavy foundation, bright blush, false lashes, red lips and contouring she wanted. She didn't look like herself. We did begin again, doing my known for "natural but better" look and she was quite pleased. I didn't charge her for a double appointment. At 25, we don't have any idea what we want. LOL.
