I received a solid perfume in a monthly bath box, and to me one of the notes smells like plastic. Could you check and see which ingredient(s) you think it is, please.

This list is of the liquid as I couldn't find the solid ingredients posted online. They are on the bottom of the jar, under the label. I will try to read if it's needed. Thank you

I only know of a few notes that I don't like, usually powdery notes. I picked up a sample of Burberry Body on a recommendation. To me, it was like a bottle of baby powder exploded in my face. I've noticed some other fragrances that I don't care for have Neroli.

(I learned many years ago to take fragrance outside to test it so I don't get a huge whiff if it's terrible)

Lime Oil (Citrus aurantifolia), Limonene, Glycerine (Glycerine), Hydroxycitronellal (Hydroxycitronellal, Sicilian Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum), Cassia Oil (Cinnnamomum Cassia) (Cinnamomum Cassia Oil), Neroli Oil (Citrus Aurantium amara), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Sandalwood Oil (Santalum Austrocaledonicum Vieill), Cocoa Absolute (Theobroma cacao), Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax tonkinensis pierre), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone), Benzyl Benzoate (Benzyl Benzoate), Cinnamal (Cinnamal), Citral, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol (Eugenol), Farnesol, Geraniol (Geraniol), Hexyl Cinnamal (Hexyl Cinnamal), Linalool (Linalool).

Re: Calling Fragrance Experts

It may have picked up that odor from the package and being stored in elevated temps.

@SnowOwl79 @I took the time to check the ingredients list one at a time and none of them are known to smell like plastic.

@Mindy D I appreciate that, thank you.

One other reviewer mentioned the plastic smell, it was posted under the liquid version. She didn't say hers was the solid, so I'm taking it as she has liquid.

Maybe it's something different than plastic but that's how it's coming across to us. It does fade quite a bit on the dry down, but getting there, I hate it.

Thank you again for checking. I'm going to take the label off and see if there's anything I missed.

*Maybe it would be a bitter note, but comes across as plasticity to me.

@SnowOwl70 Would you give the brand and scent of the product or maybe I missed it? Some of us may have used it. Thanks.

If it smelled like new baby dolls and vinyl shower curtains I would want it, lol! I take it you mean it has a sort of pungent, chemical smell. Thinking it might be some type of polymer from the manufacturing process, or chemical the container is made of, and not something they'd even list in the ingredients. Is there some item you think it smells like so we have more to go on?

It's Superworld Unknown in a solid, by Lush Cosmetics. I got it in the monthly kitchen box

@Desi  it kind of has that type of plastic smell, but with something that is, I think bitter would best describe it. I've never smelled anything similar. It comes in a glass jar with a plastic lid.

*After dry down, it does smell more like a baby doll type. It's not bad (to me), it's just not what I prefer.

I think Demeter makes the baby doll scent.

Re: Calling Fragrance Experts

SnowOwl, I have had some thing like that before too. Might have been in Connie Stevens Kali perfume. I never figured out what that was either, I just figured it was part of one of the fragrance notes.

Funny you mentioned Demeter, I had checked their line for plastic for you,  and they do sell a vinyl scent but figured that might be different. Also they don't list ingredients, I was hoping to ferret out the plastic note. Thanks on the Baby Doll scent, one day I might cave, they have sooo many enticinng scents. I have a few.

@SnowOwl79
Thanks for the information. I haven’t tried it.
