welcome to curly world!

I am a big proponent of clipping up the crown for lift when drying. My curl pattern is very weak at the top of my head and my hair is extremely thick there too. I clip to avoid the dreaded "pyramid head" {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

My hair is a few inches below my shoulders and very thick. The double prong or alligator clips weren't holding very well for me. I found these clamps on the Curl Keeper website and I can't recommend them highly enough. They give some lift and also help keep the curls defined. There is a great video on the site for how to use them--frizzoff.com

Roller Jaw Clamps

You finally wore me down. I just ordered these. I used their $5 off promo -- good thing because their shipping is $8.

I've often wondered whether these work better than the duckbill or double prong clips. Please let us know if they work for you.

Will do, jazzbabe, but as you know, no two curly heads are the same. Smile I consider my curl patterns to be a freak of nature, but I am doing my best to embrace them instead of doing battle with them.

suzyq3 - have you received the clips yet? If so, what do you think of them. I will probably order them tomorrow before the promo ends.

jazzbabe, shipping takes a while from Ontario, Canada to SoCal. {#emotions_dlg.scared} It wasn't that bad, but I did receive them only yesterday, so I haven't been able to test them out properly yet -- after shampooing.

I used a promo for $5 off, but I had to call and order on the phone because I kept getting an error message. I'm not sure which promo you're referring to, but I did find one for you that, if it works, is even better than mine. It's for free shipping. So if you're buying only these clamps, that's a good savings because they have an $8 flat shipping rate.

That's better than my $5 off and better than a 20 percent promo. The code for free shipping is PARENT13. If you decide to go for it and if the code doesn't work, try calling them to place the order. Very nice CS.

SuzyQ3 - thanks for the free shipping code but unfortunately it did not work. Perhaps I will try calling their CS tomorrow.

Re: Calling All Natural Curly Tops. Help Please?

I'm due for a hair trim now.

I like both types of clips recommended. The completely silicone and sulphate free curly girl approved products I've been using are giving me more bad hair days than good right now. I read you have to really hang in there.. it's a process which requires patience for hair to become acclimated.

But I'm realizing I miss the variety of going straight too--- & have this overwhelming urge to do a straight, shiny blow dry tomorrow morning.

We'll see...

Cheers to the Curly Chicks!

Re: Calling All Natural Curly Tops. Help Please?

To all my curlytop friends: I have an appointment for a Deva cut this Saturday with a stylist who has tons of positive reviews on the net. I'll let you all know what I think when it's over! Smiley Happy
