My hair was just like yours and I couldn't live without a perm. When my hair was not permed, nothing worked-and I mean nothing. With age, my hair has changed. I really don't know how much gray I have, but it's there: the upside is that I have more texture than I ever had before.....but still not enough to live a more "hair care free" life.Smiley Happy That is why I perm, but I don't use hair appliances without mousse(I use Matrix Volumzing) and heat protector ( I have several: they all work, but they also add additional texture and hold. After styling, there is spray-an absolute must. When you have fine straight hair, there is no style that will hold without product. Poodlepet2

I do use products in my hair. I use mousse and a heat protector spray. I also use hairspray.

Re: Calista Tools Hot Rollers...

I got my set from Amazon for $24 - but currently my hair is too short to use them. I am planning to let it grow out a little bit and then use them. I am kinda wishing for a new look. I am getting permanent makeup done this month so I will try a new hairstyle and see if that does it for me.

Re: Calista Tools Hot Rollers...

I ordered the CHI set a few weeks back when they were a TSV and they didn't work for me. Needless to say, I sent them back. When I saw that the Calista set was going to be a TSV, I decided to give them a try even though a lot of the reviews were unfavorable. I tried them on slightly damp hair a few days ago, and the curls were much better than what I had gotten from the Chi rollers. Also, I left them in for less than 10 minutes. My hair is long (waist length) so the Calista long rollers work much better for me than the jumbo Chi rollers that I returned. I havent used them "seriously" yet, but I can tell that they are going to do a great job on dry hair.

Would like to use those, but I feel ill if my head gets hot. Is that a problem?

If you use the lower setting, nothing gets too hot. When I tried the higher setting, the curler itself seemed almost too hot to handle.

I got the longer curlers, though I have above-shoulder hair. I wanted to do soft spiral curls. I am amazed at the results, but I am still not sure if I want to keep them. They are very heavy, especially if I have all 12 on. Also, the clips do not hold well at all, or maybe I am not able to clip them in properly.

Also, I can't seem to use 2 days in a row because my hair feels very dry afterward. (Not so at all with Caruso.)

But the body and the curl is really great!

So, I still am very much on the fence. If they didn't give results so nicely, I wouldn't hesitate in sending them back as soon as!

Re: Calista Tools Hot Rollers...

I have super fine, super thick hair and found that using a sea salt spray to dirty up my hair. This gives my hair grip and curl actually takes better and will last longer than if I didn't, plus the rollers actually have something to grip onto. I use hair spray on each section then roll. I use the sea salt spray when I flat iron with curling the ends and with my Perfecter so there is something other than silky glass for them to cling to.

Re: Calista Tools Hot Rollers...

I'm loving my new long rollers! I have super fine one length hair. They work great. I too am baffled by the bad reviews. I wonder if the shorter fatter rollers are heavier than the skinnier long rollers?? These are no heavier than Conair rollers. They stay in my hair too with the long butterfly clip. I also wonder too if it's the way I am rolling them, from the root instead of the ends of my hair. I do a spiral beach wave. I'm using heat protectant spray and curl setting gel. My hair stays exactly the same as when I do it in the morning till I go to bed! I'm amazed!

Re: Calista Tools Hot Rollers...

ECBG, I am not technologically gifted enough to post pictures, but here are some of the things I use. Products last a long time because I wash my hair once or twice a week-more often during the summer. Once you hit a certain age, oil production goes down and gray hair is usually on the dry side. I use Village Color Stay hair mask once a week. After rinsing, I apply Matrix Amplify Volume mousse. I also use Chi Silk mousse sometimes. Allegedly it was made exclusively for the Q-I don't know if that's still the case. I allow my hair to air dry, but I "flood" it while it's drying. I have been using The Perfector and will continue: it is faster than using curlers and I'm happy with how it styles, but there are times for curlers. No matter what appliance, I use Not Your Mother's Beat the Heat thermal styling shield spray. After I have styled, I use Matrix Amplify Volume Hair spray, or Calista Embellish spray ( I don't have that with me: I'm pretty sure that's the name). When my hair feels dry, there is nothing like Nick Chavez Thirst Quenched: on me, it delivers shine, hold and volume. Agadir is another great moisturizing spray. The only downside to these sprays is that my hair seems to get dirty more quickly. Not Your Mother's and Agadir can be purchased at Wal-Mart: I'm not sure about Matrix. Hope this helps, Poodlepet2

Thank you for the suggestion HH. I ordered the set last night on Amazon and they will be delivered on Thursday. Cannot wait.

I bought the CHI rollers when a TSV and they are too HOT, just burn my head and fall out. Do these work better? Temperature?

Re: Calista Tools Hot Rollers...

Well, I used a mixture of short and long curlers on the high setting. I have very sensitive fingers but nothing got too hot to handle. They were comfortable on my scalp: I did have to cushion my left ear with tissue because a curler was burning it, but no biggie. I left them in for a full twenty minutes and seven hours later in Florida warmth and humidity, my style looks great. I got real curls and volume as opposed to volume ( on the lower setting). This is a keeper: I was really thinking about the Chi-I'm glad these came along. Poodlepet2
