Calista Hair Detailer TSV Review

Hello, Ladies!
Thought I'd post my experience about A-458972 Calista TrianglPRO Heated Hair Detailer Brush that was a TSV Dec. 14.

It arrived only 3 days after ordering which was a surprise.

The first time I used it on the medium heat setting and tried to flip my ends out but no luck. The second time I turned up the heat a bit, and tried to flip my ends under, but I couldn't get the look I wanted. Both times my hair was freshly washed and dried.

I thought about returning it, but I used it again one more time yesterday on "second day hair" that hadn't been washed yet. I also used the highest heat setting. I know that's not good, but I use heat protectant spray. My hair is thick so I usually need a higher heat setting. This time I started at the crown and very slowly moved the brush through a section of my hair. When I got a few inches from my ends I twisted the barrel upward and held it for several seconds before releasing. I got a pretty nice outer flip.

I think once I get used to it, it will be easier to use this tool to flip my ends instead of using my flat iron. Maybe the Calista will cause less damage than using my flat iron to achieve this look?

Thanks for everyone's posts in the beauty forum. I always enjoy reading them. Best Wishes to All in the New Year! 🌈

@wilma

Thanks for the review. I wondered how well it worked for lift and a bit of a flip/curl on ends. I'm looking to treat myself in Feb to a new hair tool. Was looking at the Calista item or a new Revlon item. Still on fence, but reading reviews helps. Your hair always look so nice in the outfit of day posts.

Re: Calista Hair Detailer TSV Review

I also got the Calista Triangle styler; I used it for several days.  The first time my hair was freshly washed and styled and I added some flips and feathers and I was very pleased.

Next time I tried it was for second day hair and it dried it out, made it flat, had to wash it when I came home from grocery store it was so horrible.  Like sticking a finger in an electric outlet in the old cartoons!!

After conditioning and waiting a week I tried again (I did have to use a higher heat setting than I normally pick) and same disaster.  I let it sit in the return package until after Jan 1 to return and honestly was so tempted to try again, but I held firm for the sake of my hair, and it's on its way back.

So disappointed, and yes I watched all the videos of Maria demonstrating it and am sure I used it correctly.  I think it really depends on the person's hair, as her Perfecter did not work for me either, flat almost instantly.

Re: Calista Hair Detailer TSV Review

I'm sorry but I find her products are junk. I bought this one, I have curly hair I wear straight. Didn't even come close to even straightening my bangs. QVC gives her alot of air time for her poor quality products. Go over to the Lange site, their tools are amazing. I bought a heated straightening brush that is easy to use, and  definityly works !! I look like I've had a blowout when I get done.and it doesn't damage my hair.

I've had mine for a while and used it a few times.

Nothing special.  I'm wondering what I was thinking when I bought it.  Got a little lift, but it didn't hold

Right now, my hair is easy to manage since there is little to no humidity.  I'll try it again come summer.

My hair is fine, curly and color treated.  I'll keep it, but...doubt it will see much use.

Yes, I'm aggravated with myself for buying it.

Buying the styler is my first and only experience with Calista so I can't really comment on whether her products tend to be "junky".

I didn't buy it to straighten. I have a flat iron for that. I bought it to help flip my ends which so far has worked with some practice.

Never heard of Lange. I will check out their website.

I guess time will tell if I end up using mine frequently enough to justify the cost. I bought it mainly to flip my ends. I haven't tried to use it for volume yet.

Re: Calista Hair Detailer TSV Review

@wilma I have several of Calista's products and several of L'ange's.  Calista's are just okay, but I get annoyed when she comes out with a newer, obviously improved version after mine has passed the return period.  With L'ange, once you go to their site, you will be inundated with emails, and if you check them out on FB, again, your feed will be swamped as there are many, many, many L'ange "reps"...maybe they're "influencers."  I bought L'ange tools and hair products.  They tease you with specials and codes to enter for discounts.  I prefer L'ange over Calista, but I've been wondering lately if the brand is along the lines of some sort of pyramid scheme just because of how many people there are hawking the items.

Re: Calista Hair Detailer TSV Review

I've tried quite a few of her hair tools. None of them work for me. Specially the one that is supposed to just create the curl by wrapping the hair around the brush. A friend of mine uses that, and it makes her hair extremely frizzy on the ends, and there's no curl at the base of the head. Calista products don't seem to have great ratings, and yet they're on all the time.
