I was watching the demo tonight and thought this is what I need for my hair, but instead of impulse shopping I decided to wait and research.  Amy was presenting and she put it in her hair and WOW...it made such a dfiference and looked so good and full.  Now I am still watching Amy present (other items) I am noticing her hair looks nothing like when she first put the embellish definer in her hair, it appears it does not last so the demo is really misleading.  Has anyone bought this and what is your experience with it?  I have so many products that I have purchased on an impulse and by the demo and did nothing.  I am so tired of being a sucker not to mention the waste of money that I don't really have.  Thanks for any feedback.

Re: Calista - Embellish Definer

@happilyretiredgirl , great questions.  I was tempted too after seeing the presentations.  I did read the review and it seemed pretty favorable.  Some LOVE it, but there were some that complained that it made their hair feel heavy and sticky.  Lets see what everyone says here.

Re: Calista - Embellish Definer

@happilyretiredgirl  I think it's the one that was the special value. After reading reviews I decided some I have are just as good. Also watching the presentation it mentioned it's for a casual look, not like a curling iron.

I bought the Revlon blower styler instead and even though it's large it does a good blowout.

I thought the same thing about the demos. They kept reapplying and minutes later their hair looked flat. At one point the presenter said," you can use hairspray to hold the style." If it is sticky on my hands it will be sticky in my hair.

@happilyretiredgirl    You're A smarter consumer than I.  I've been doing a private rant about this product for a week.

I watched Maria McCool do a presentation on a model who quickly disappeared.  Maria clearly and deceptively presented it as a styling product, which it's not.  Its just an ordinary mediocre hair spray.

I did the tousle effect on my hair which is thick, wavy and very short.  The effect didn't last 10 minutes.  As a hair spray, it holds poorly; doesn't make hair stiff at all and doesn't give it any body.  By the way, I live in a very dry climate so humidity wasn't involved.

I'm going to send this back simply because Maria lied about it and shouldn't get away with her sales pitch.  I'll never buy another of her products.  Suggest you avoid it.

Re: Calista - Embellish Definer

Over the last few years I bought a few Calista products and returned everyone of them. Overpriced and junk IMO.  Maria's hair never looks good to me so why would I believe her.  She also does 2 hosts hair and both are a mess.

I don't skimp on hair tools or products so the Calista brand is not for me.

Thanks everyone for your feedback and because of this I have decided not to buy any products or styling tools from Calista.

@1Snickers   Which Revlon blower styler did you purchase.  There are a couple of models and even though I really like my T3, I would like to style it with the blower instead of spending the time with a large round brush and the dryer.  Sounds like you are pleased with the Revlon....thanks for any suggestions.

@happilyretiredgirl   Amy has thick hair and perfectly layered for this product...kept that way maybe every few weeks by the stylist.

I ordered Embellish when my hair was shorter and had a few layers. It made my hair feel dirty and sticky. I washed it out that night and sent it back. I didn't even want to give it a few try outs using varying amounts. It was sticky in my hands and knew I didn't want it on my hair.

You were wise not to order it. So many products, clothing, jewelry are shown on Amy and sell out quickly, but EVERYTHING looks cute and great on her. Some women are like that. Keep your eyes open and make intelligent choices.

Re: Calista - Embellish Definer

I'm another short hair gal who tried Embellis and returned it.  Agree, it made my hair feel dirty and sticky.  I'm not even a hairspray girl so I think I fell for the hype and hoped it would work.  I've bought a few of the Calista tools, but oftentimes you need to wait for the re-worked, newer version.  The first generation of her tools fall short and improve a bit once she receives feedback.  I still wish she'd somehow label the size of the Perfector tools.  Hard to tell what size you have -- 3/4 looks close to a 1", etc.  I fell for that tool, and it's in my arsenal of unusued hair tools.  Another one I fell for was the original version of a tool that I should have returned because the teeth were too tight to fit my thick hair into.  A year later, Calista came out with one that has teeth set wider apart which would have worked better for me.  Just tired of buying and returning hair tools.  Ditto for makeup.  So  much of that has gone back, too.
