With the things I have going on in my life on a daily basis

And it's not just the drops.  My husband had to stay laid down for 10 or 15 minutes after each application of the drops.

@monicakm   Yes and no leaning or bending over, lifting over 10 lbs., no getting water in waters (showering w/ ziplock sandwich bag taped over over eyes. Lol), no exercising, cleansers, lotions, no rubbing eyes, plastic shield taped over eye at night, could have scratchy feeling which I did, blurry vision and difficult to read for several days ....It's a long list of instructions. I follow to it to a "T" because I never want to have this done again.

***What's the "T" for in follow to a "T"?

So you had NO type of sedation pain block, nothing??  You are a true Wonder Woman!  And I thought DH was tuff Smiley Surprised

@monicakm I was a bit nervous with all the movement in the operating room but had no pain. I asked if I was supposed to be asleep just in case. They said no just woozy. I wasn't woozy. I was the last surgery of the day and it pretty assembly line. LOL. It was all very nice and they couldn't have been more attentive. Actually I had lasik in the same medical building  years before. There was no anesthesia then either. Just numbing drops.

@KCDiva, I'm def not saying that you're being untruthful, but I do find it hard to believe that you had no type of sedation whatsoever.

Almost everyone I know who's had cataract surgery was put into a brief & mild twilight 'sleep' where you're faintly aware of what's going on.

I can't imagine lying still w/ eyes wide open & watching a shiny instrument coming towards your eyeball! Jerking away, cringing or at the very least, blinking, would be natural,...and the outcome might surely be tragic for vision.

@sabatiniI'm sorry. I have no reason to lie. I was given a few drops of versed under my tongue and that's all. I was asked a few times during the surgery if I had any pain and I said no. I was fine but a little nervous with all the sounds and lights going on. I was given instructions and walked out to the car of my friend who took me. The nurse told me if I needed to cough or sneeze to let them know. That's all I know. I initially asked if the procedure could be done without sedation. My appointment wasn't until 2:30 and I didn't get seen until 3:30. I was told I could not eat or drink after 6AM. I wasn't too excited about that so I did asked if people can do it without sedation so they don't have to fast that long. I was told many people do it without it. I had no problems and if I need to have the left eye done I will go back to the same facility.

No lie here, I had my surgeries with only eye numbing drops, I did just fine, and remained perfectly still, my doc just told me not to speak.  This was my choice.

FYI

Versed is a form of sedation, it just doesn’t knock you out unconscious.

Are you serious about taping plastic baggies over your eyes while showering, @Shanus or being funny?

I was told not to run water over my eyes and to have a towel ready so I could blot my eyes after washing my hair.

@bikerbabe  - Getting versed in an IV right before surgery is the best feeling.

@tansy   Not kidding. I cut the one layer of a baggie , cut to fit and tape each eye separately. I can see and don't have to worry about getting water in my eyes in the shower...especially when shampooing. The nurse gave me the suggestion.

These restrictions seem extreme and for such a long time.  Did you have something besides a cataract procedure done at the same time?  Just curious.
