I agree with the other replies, Jordana 12 hour liners are awesome! I stock up when Walgreens has them on sale for around $1.50, they stay put too. I also have It cosmetics gel liner in the pot and it's great too(called expresso), doesn't smudge even after a long nap.

I have just what you are looking for: a pencil eyeliner from Clinique in Intense brown. Very, very dark and stays on well.

I prefer brown to black as well. I have had a hard time finding one that's not too mahogany. My favorite brown eyeliner is actually an eyeshadow from Bobbi Brown's line. I use a slightly damp eyeliner brush to apply it and it lasts all day. The shade is called Black chocolate.

I prefer MAC's power point eyeliner in Stubborn Brown. Stila makes a great waterproof liquid liner in dark brown.

IT Cosmetic No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliners in the Black-Brown is a really great deep espresso shade and stays on all day. I am not an eyeliner person, but now that I have tried IT Cosmetics Gel Eyeliners I am turning into a an eyeliner person. I have the Black-Brown, Silk Taupe, Plum, and the Highlighter. My favorite color is a tie right now between Silk Taupe and Black-Brown. I have green eyes and both of them just make my eye color pop! If you have an ULTA near you I would take a look at the color and if you love it or more than one color maybe look at QVC and see if there is a duo you like!
