Body Wraps?

What's up with these body wraps for weight loss I've been hearing about? I know 3 people who are now distributors and are driving me nuts wanting me to have "parties" and invite friends to be "wrapped". They also offer a variety of supplements and drinks, the whole nine yards. How can a wrap applied to the body for any length of time result in permanent weight loss? If these really resulted in true, lasting weight loss, wouldn't doctors be prescribing these to their patients?
