While I will always love lipsticks, I have been wearing more tinted lip balms - Laura Geller's Jelly balms.   The other option I like to wear is a lip pencil with a gloss over it.

If a guy stares at my lips, I'll repeat THAT look and forget BB and her advice. 😉

NARS Afterglow lip balm has been my go to for ages.

I think she is correct...for most women!  However, it will depend on your skin tone and Hair color.

I've seen some older ladies that wear lipstick well.

I think when it comes to any makeup advise from any makeup artist, that it's their opinion only. I don't believe in any hard fast rules for women of any age.

Give me an actual lasting full coverage lipstick any day. The tints, the balms, the oils, the glosses are garbage on me and to me.

I know a woman my age, white hair, pale powdered complexion, whose signature look is a deep burgundy matte lipstick. Obviously she likes this contrast. When I see her I'm struck by the harshness against her skin and hair.  But again, that's just my take. That lip would be hideous on me.

If you're like me and have no lips to speak of then I guess it really doesn't matter what is put on the lips b/c it's not visible enough to make any difference...LOL!Woman LOL

Lipsticks can be applied in different ways to achieve the amount of coverage you want.  I have a whole wardrobe of lippies, LOL and only wear an actual lipstick if I'm wearing a full face of makeup.  Then, i want it to last.  Lip stains are very drying and if you add a gloss over, they're not any different than a lipstick.  Anything emollient ruins their staying power.

Most lip glosses just don't have much of a color payoff.

We had lunch yesterday at the grand opening of a country club in another town. Lunch was fantastic by the way. We may have been the youngest couple there. I spent a lot of time looking at the makeup of women there...makeup and hair. Many of them had on bright lipstick. I think 100% of them would have looked better in a balm  or gloss.

They all looked very nice and you could tell they put in the extra effort to look that way. It was an enjoyable time and I hope to go back soon.

I sleep in tinted lip balm, but I wear pink lipstick with a gloss topper everyday along with my face makeup. I like the weight and feel of the lipstick and gloss when I put it on. 😘  I should try going out in a tinted lip balm, since it would be fun to try a new look.
