I'm just curious if anyone has heard of keeping Vitamin C in the refrigerator.

Received my bottle of Vitamin C from BioBare and they suggested keeping it in the refrigerator.  I've tried various Vit C's from different companies and haven't heard this.

VC is directly effected (oxidized) by temperature. The higher the temp, the faster it oxidizes. VC also loses it's efficacy from exposure to light and moisture. A fridge is the perfect place to store VC products b/c it's cool, dark and dehydrated.

I've used Biobare vitamin c for years and have never put it in the fridge. I just looked at the box and it doesn't say that on it.

This is what it says on their website under "How To Use":

"To extend the shelf life of the serum, we recommend storing it in a cool, dark place. You can also refrigerate the serum(opened or sealed)."

@SilleeMee  Interesting that they would not put that on the box. I always keep mine in a cool, dark cabinet.

How long do you keep your Vit C products?  I buy it, use it up in about 6 weeks, and buy another one.   I've contacted the company I buy my Vit C serum from - they told me the 'freshness' shelf life is 2 years as long as it's unopened.  No refridgeration required.  I suppose all brands are different.

I keep my opened one in my medicine cabinet. My extra bottles, when I have them, go in the fridge. VC can oxidize at any temperature, open bottle or not, and that will be accelerated if out under the light.

@LuvmyLab when I'm looking at the box the Vit C came in, its on the left side panel of the box.  "To keep the serum fresh and delay the oxidation process, we recommend storing it in the refrigerator (sealed and opened bottles)"

Maybe they've just started printing it on the box as well as on their website.
