@Sooner wrote:Dior makes some of the best I've ever used--in coverage, natural look and shades for my skin. I don't remember which one (I keep some for "dress up") but they have a lot of them to suit skin tones and your skin type.
I agree with @Sooner about Dior foundation. They are some of the best foundations that I have ever tried.

Chanel Aqua lumiere. Also Dior ,relatively new, sprayable called Air flush. I use it for special occasions, it stays put, doesn't run, sweat doesn't affect it.

I just ordered the Armani based on the great reviews here. I've tried lots of high-end brands: Chanel, YSL, Burberry, etc... and still haven't found my perfect foundation. I'm hoping the Armani will be it! I do have to say if you're looking for a good BB cream, Mally's "Face Defender BB Cream" is a winner. Good coverage and a nice smooth, semi-matte look. A bit of luminescent sparkle to it but not obvious. It's actually a bit too much coverage for me, I'm looking for something a bit lighter, but it's a good one to have in my kit. The salesperson at Ulta recommended it to me and I'm happy to have it.

Tuesday, everybody, I'm happy for you if you've found a quality foundation that is a match for your complexions. I, however, no matter how much I have to spend, have never(until very recently) found a foundation anywhere near my red-brown skin tone. I've strolled the aisles of the finest department stores only to hear the sound alarms go off ( like Oprah and Gail) and stiff salespersons come out of nowhere to assure me there is nothing for me there. The Q has Bobbi Brown in shades proported to be more inclusive but they never air them. (BB's deep shades are all grey/tan by the way, and make you look dead, ashy ) Dior, Chanel, Borghese, Lancome, Clarins, Estee.....? - none of them offer anything beyond pale or deep beige.
Iman left the Q long ago and doesn't devote much time to marketing. Her own cream foundation while a fairly good color match, clogs the pores, melts and rubs off on everything. Her powders don't match even the foundations that share a name. BUT- she promotes Jay Manuel cosmetics which offers 4 choices within each shade range. This is the first line ever to offer different formulations in different shades all the color of real people not color swatches. Jay has been her makeup artist for 17 years. If she can trust her billion dollar face to his artistry I think more of us can as well.

CoG, I still haven't found a perfect match, either! I bought the lightest color Chanel foundation comes in and it was still too dark for my pale skin!

@SmallTownChic222 wrote:So I've been wanting to get a new foundation--something high end for special occassions. So I have three options in my mind:
-Too Faced Born This Way
-Tarte Amazonian Clay
-Make Up For Ever HD
If any of you use these three, what do you think? What are other great foundations?
I use all three of these and it depends which one I use by the way I feel that day as I alternate them.
MUFE lasts the least amount of time on my face before needing a touch-up. The color is perfect for me and looks the most natural.
Tarte Amazonian Clay lasts all day and I use this one if I need more coverage.
Too Faced Born This Way is a bit thicker and I have to be careful I don't apply too much or it will look like I'm wearing a lot of foundation. I use a makeup sponge to blend and it doesn't look as thick. It lasts all day for me. I have to use 2 different shades to get my perfect match. (Don't like that at all).

@TuesdayTaylor-I just posted about Armani foundation on another thread. Regardless of what 'new' I try, I always go back to Armani. It's a fabulous product. I highly recommend that you go to Nordstrom/on site store to get a color match since they have a wide range of color options. Post your review after you get to try it!

SmallTownChic I think you can do better than any of the three foundations you are asking about. If you are intent on one of them I would definitly steer you toward Makeup Forever. Sephora is the only store which has makeup forever in the stores, so I suggest going there and get a take home sample of that one, and the Tarte and Too-Faced to take home to sample in your real life. Foundation can look, feel and wear so differently on us that one person's "great" can be a mess on another.
If you decide that neither of the three you are asking about is right for you I recommend a visit to a Lancome counter. In my opinion there you wil find excellent formulations and enough colors so that most people of any skin tone should be able to find a shade match.

I have not tried what you have listed starting with Too Faced. I used to love Dior Sculpt but it was really getting heavy on my face so Gorgio Armani Beauty in Luminus Silk Foundation. $62 but it is simple beuatiful and lasts a long long time. Great for normal or dry skin. They have many colors adn I wear 3.75. Told I looked 100% better in this foundation. I hope you can go to a counter and try a sample. You will love it.

This is simply the best ever. Better than Dior and Chanel..............
