Beekman Incorrect Ingredients

[ Edited ]

I just bought some more Beekman Honey & Oats bar soap. I checked the ingredients against the ingredients from the the wrapper from Evine. It was the same there but HSN has different ingredients listed on their site from what's on the wrapper on the soap I just bought. It shows it has Honey but it does not never has had honey in it. They keep saying it has honey in it when they talk about it but it has never been listed as an ingredient on my soap bars??? It does not have the name of the place in Fl that Distributed the soap on the new label. Just shows made at their farm in the USA.

HSN lists these ingredients

Ingredients: Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate and/or Palm Kernelate, Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Fragrance (Parfum), Avena sativa (Oat Kernel) Flour, Caprae Lac (Goat Milk), Aleurites Moluccana Seed Extract (Kukui Nut Oil), Honey, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Sodium Chloride, Pentasodium Pentetate.

you can see the difference in bold plus no honey before the Thebroma Cacao Seed Butter

You might want to contact HSN about that.

Re: Beekman Incorrect Ingredients

@Nightowlz  Well, that's disappointing . . . but really good to know now. I had planned to watch their show tomorrow and was interested in the Honey & Oats soap. Not if it doesn't have honey . . . and especially if Beekman is false advertising their products. A previous thread on Beekman products had me curious enough to try.

I'll continue to purchased Nebraska-made natural soaps, creams and lotions at a fraction of the cost at local Farmer's Markets!

Thanks for this timely post. You just saved me an untold amount of money. Smiley Happy

Nice detective work, @Nightowlz. I wonder if eventually the list on the bar packaging will be updated. Or if the HSN site info is just plain wrong! Hmmm.

@Alison Wonderland

I don't know why it says bottle when I was talking about a bar of soap.

I did. Reply here:

I am sorry that the ingredients are different then what is listed on the bottle.

@Porcelain @BirkiLady @Alison Wonderland

I went back & checked other ingredients. They also show honey in the Honey & Orange Blossom soap which never has had honey listed in the ingredients. Davesforth also shows honey. I have never used it so I don't know anything about it.

The only soap that has honey in it is the Apricot Honey Tea that I know of.

I also see on the new After The Sun Aloe & Lavender they are using Soybean Oil but list no glycerin. Hope they are not planning on removing the glycerin & using soybean oil in all their soaps.

Re: Beekman Incorrect Ingredients

@NightowlzI just read the ingredients on HSN for the soaps. Under the Honey & Oats, I believe it says "honeyied flowers" - whatever that is! (Not sure I spelled it correctedly.) Still not interested right now. Delighted you have received a reply from HSN! Hope the two guys respond to you soon (perhaps tomorrow?). This is interesting. Good job!

I asked them on FB about this Honey n Oat NOT having any honey in it, they did not respond! They stopped saying it had HONEY in it,only talked about the oatmeal on Evine.

OMG-I just looked at the Davesforth label It has a

"CAUTION Avoid EYE area this is not a FACIAL bar use on body only.If irritation occurs DISCONTINUE USE AND CONTACT YOUR PHYSICIAN!!!!!!! Wow, I had no idea and they have NEVER mentioned that ever. It does not have honey in it,plus I can't even pronounce the ingredients on Davesforth! Thanks for the heads up,I had no idea about this warning, I was gifting this soap to hubby but NOT NOW!!!

Re: Beekman Incorrect Ingredients

Going by the ingredients, can they spare the goat's milk? The goat's milk soap I use has the goat's milk as the first ingredient. These sound like any other bar of soap with a little goat's milk thrown in.

Looks like their standard, scripted reply. Thanks for pointing this out @Nightowlz. I am very curious as to why the discrepencies. I also hope this isn't a case of HSN enticing the vendor to change the formula and make the product cheaper. I have found quality differences between HSN offered products and retail products with some of HSN's other vendors.
