Re: Beauty confusion

[ Edited ]

@BJRich I may buy makeup on occasions but I don't bother with all the other products. I will admit I have been drawn in by some of the demo's and that is just a gimmick to sell. Especially when I look at the hosts that claim they use it everyday and they have more wrinkles than I do, obviously it does not work.

I do like some of Laura Gellar products and I do like Beekman.  All that other reverse aging stuff....LOL!!!!  I am just speculating and only my opinion but most of the vendors that are selling the products appears to have had some work done on their face....nothing wrong with that if you can afford it, but don't fool me to think your products lifted your eyebrows and plumped your cheeks and lips....LOL!!!!

It's not hard to get confused when there's a new line every week. It all by and large the same ingredients, but the fomo is hard to resist that the next thing will be the holy grail.

Nothing to be confused about!   Of course the hosts' job is to positively present beauty items!   No one product works for everyone.  I have found by trial and error what works best for me but doesn't for many others.  I like to try new products and often have found something that works even better for me!  One thing I know is that ordering a product is not going to get magical results but just might work better than what I am using.

Getting familiar with skincare ingredients is a good way to find your way around the marketplace. When you understand what your skin needs then look for ingredients rather than the brand names which contain them.

Skincare shouldn't be complicated. It's actually better to use fewer and simple ingredients. Good skincare should not have to cost a lot. Most often what you pay for is for brand names and fancy packaging...no need for that.

@BJRich

I guess I am not confused because most of the lines I find too expensive for me or have ingredients that I cannot use!  I, for the most part, have to stick to moderately priced items and also stick to fragrance free and things which I believe will not upset my skin.  I also tend to stick with things I have used for some time and I like to shop in stores where I can see things and return more easily.  My big exception is Laura Geller.  I love her products and have good luck with them.

@BJRich ...Yes, not just by the brands that QVC sells but others as well.  And when to use, in what order, what they do....for me it is to many choices.  I know there are many on these boards that will answer your questions.

I'm sorry shopping for beauty items is hard for you . It shouldn't be that way. Have you tried shopping from Sephora or Ulta or even the drugstore? There are no hard sale tactics.  You can watch YouTube videos if you need to.  Most of the ladies are honest, so not so much.  I don't shop from QVC anymore. I'm turned off by their sales tactics

@BJRich   Unfortunatley, confusion is what skincare companies count on for sales...espercially those who are beginners or not sure about ingredients.

There are so many brands and people who will tell you that you need niacinamides, peptides, vit. C serums, etc. There are many articles online about necessary ingredients in skincare and what they will do for your skin. Please go by those recommendations or sometimes derms on YouTube4 have good videos about this.

Don't think one line will have all the products you need for your skin type or that high end is better than drugstore.  Give a product 3 months at least to see signs of improvement. Many make the mistake of puttting the jar to the back of the shelf after a few weeks and go on to the next new "toy" promising to take 20 yrs. off their  appearance. Never happens!!!
