Re: Basic Skin Care for Sensitive Skin

Having 'sensitive skin' usually means there are issues with the skin's barrier, the outermost layer of skin. I would look for a skincare kit made just for sensitive skin. Kits will have gentle cleansers, gentle exfoliants and also specially formulated moisturizers/serums made to enrich and maintain healthy skin barrier function. There are several brands that offer kits for sensitive skin. Just look for them.

Both Paula's Choice & Naturium have a sensitive line. I'm a fan of both lines, so I won't recommend one over the other.  I do recommend you check out them both, then try the basics from each one.  They are both wallet friendly and Paula's Choice has a sale ALL THE TIME, especially this time of year.

Re: Basic Skin Care for Sensitive Skin

La Roche Posay Toleraine for cleanser. I had very oily skin until I was about fifty five. I thought I could solve all the problems in the Middle East. But very fair and acutely sensitive.

I got a horrible type of acne from a mistake a derm made with a lunchtime peel. Went to see the head of derm at MGH in Boston. He gave me Retina micro; he said the micro was the gentlest. I also switched to Mineral m/u. And I started getting compliments on my skin.

I never had good skin; I 'd had acne.

I thought people were making fun of me when they complimented me. Then I realized some of them didn't know me before.

I don't have a lot of problems with m/u but for some reason mouisturisers are a problem.

I'm seventy eight now and still use Tretinoin -0.04% gel microsphere. Very low dosage for cosmetic reasons. And sunscreen.
