Are you referring to the click/lock/go sifter? If so, you can open the jar from the bottom. Take a knife or something you can pry with and gently pry open the bottom of the jar. It can be messy.

If you mean the piece that comes with it and is triangular, that covers the holes, I usually take a pair of needle nose pliers to grip it and pull. It's a bit snug to just use my fingers.

I've practically given up on BM powder because the containers are a mess to get the powder out of !

Cat, I didn't think about giving directions for opening the jar for the first time....glad you mentioned that. I thought (and I don't know why) OP wanted to open the jar at the bottom.

I didn't realize what she was talking about either lol. I use my tweezers to remove the plastic triangle piece that seals it.
