I was in Nordstrom yesterday and noticed that Bobbi brown pricing is way up...rivaling the luxury cosmetics, but definitely NOT the same quality. I think Mr. Lauder is pricing that line out of the market.

What makeup lines are your go tos? Where do you look first if wanting a palette, lipstick, etc.?

Re: BOBBI BROWN PRICES WAY UP!

@Shanus I looked it online a few days ago and most of it is nothing I would wear.  I now wear my "good" Dior foundation because I only need a drop or two of it and it goes on great and without a primer.

Bobby Brown shows ever flaw now.  It used to be an ok choice for me.  In my younger Woman Frustrated days.

Re: BOBBI BROWN PRICES WAY UP!

That's disappointing about Bobbi Brown.  I used to love her makeup, especially the shimmer wash eye shadow and lipstick.  I'll be honest, these days if I'm looking for something new, I'll look at the drugstore or Amazon first.  For 'good' makeup, I've been drawn to Bare Minerals lately.  I'm thinking of trying one of their foundations.  I need one with light-ish coverage, and don't want anything too heavy.  I used to use Philosophy's skin tint until it was discontinued.

ALL makeup prices are way up.  I would never use one whole line exclusively,  and while BB is an "okay" brand, I don't think it's all that special.  I don't think BB is all she's cracked up to be, either.  JMO, of course.

Re: BOBBI BROWN PRICES WAY UP!

Bobbi Brown sold her line to Estee Lauder years ago. Bobbi created Jones Road Beauty a year or so ago. While pricey, the products I've tried are excellent.

Re: BOBBI BROWN PRICES WAY UP!

Lots of holiday offerings on sale/clearance now.

I purchased an EL skin care holiday configuration at Nordie's for 30% off. Nice sale!

I don't think Bobbi Brown is all that, either.

@SandyAndy

I remember reading something about that;  it's been at least 5 years, I believe.

I guess not everyone knew Bobbi Brown no longer owns Bobbi Brown.

I don't recall the name of the BB product I was considering but it comes in a jar and is a moisturizer/primer product.  I  haven't been in much of a makeup buying mode lately but Fenty and Huda come to mind as first choices.  In this colder weather I've been enjoying The Ordinary's Serum Foundation.  I just got a lighter color two days ago and will be mixing it with my 2.0N.  The new color is 1.2N

Re: BOBBI BROWN PRICES WAY UP!

@Shanus - At one time I would have said Laura Mercier was my go-to line for everything but mascara (Lancôme). But now I'm all over the place. I really don't have one specific line any longer. I haven't used any Mercier products in a lot of years.

@Shanus

It seems most brands that I use have went up in price lately. I guess it shouldn't surprise us as everything else is escalating faster than I can keep up with.

I am using Doll 10 foundation TCE (Takes Care of Every thing) It is still priced reasonable so far. I use BB blush and the color corrector which isn't inexpensive by any means. I haven't checked the new prices yet. Lipsticks are my biggest investment and believe me they aren't getting cheaper anywhere. My go to brands are Lancome, Elizabeth Arden, MAC, and Givenchy. Skin Care is another $$$$ Lancome and Borghese are what I am using right now.
