OK, no judgement, please. I was getting lowlights to add some darker pieces into my almost all white hair. I was looking so blah (!?!!) no matter how much or how much blush or brighter lip I added.
At each appt., every 12 weeks, when more lowlights were added, I loved it more and more. Last time before my trip the week before T'giving, my stylist added a lot of lowlights which left only a bit of silver shining through my light/medium brown hair. It definitely wasn't my dark brown hair which would have looked harsh now with my very fair complexion.
My face came to life and I now can pull out all my camel sweaters, blazers and brown leather jackets that I had stored away. I feel like I look my "old self". I had the all silver for almost 10 years and loved it...no maintenence except a cut, but as I got older, I got more fair which made it difficult to color match foundations and other makeup. I was already wearing the lightest shade of foundation offered in all brands.
So, I may have gone against everything I said here before about grey hair, silver sisters, etc. but am so far happy being a light brunette. Uh, we'll have to see how much upkeep there is before I decide to keep it. There's still some fine silver streaks so the grow out may be OK or I may need a root touch up more often than I'm willing to do. She does sell ColorWow and I purchased that to use as it grows out and leaves a line of too much contrast.
Anyone with grey hair giving it second thoughts, too?

I don't have gray hair but I once read that hair coloring was the best anti-aging beauty product ever invented. I have to agree with that.

Good for you @Shanus , glad you are happy with your results. My hair isn't grey, I do color every 4 months or so to my natural brunette. Luckily it's short and curly so what slowly grows back in is somewhat hidden. My sister has let her hair go grey and while it looks okay on her she actually looks older than me and I'm the older one by 6 years! I cannot see myself ever letting my hair go grey but I guess we never can say never! (LOL)

This thread is sure to go south since it has always been so controversial in the past.
That being said, no, I have never thought about coloring my white hair. I have not colored it for ten years or so. I still get compliments on it, but the ease of no roots is the big plus.
I also consider that my face is 10 years older than when I colored it. Going brunette isn't going to fool anyone.
If it makes you happy, good for you. We will see how quick you get tired of the touch ups since you have experienced the freedom of no color. I would never go back to that chore again.
Many enjoy changing up their look. You mentioned you felt washed out with your grey hair. I am sure with your make up background you could have figured that out. Have fun playing around with your wardrobe. Good thing you didn't get rid of all those things in your moving purge.....perhaps in the back of your mind you knew you were going to go back to coloring again.......

I had worn GLASSES since grade school...(high-fashion ones as I got "older")...and they were part of my face.
Then I had my cataracts removed, no more glasses, and my face looked "naked".
Sooooo, I cut bangs (long and touseled)... Made a huge difference...took off 10 years! (Back of hair is still in a twist, tho.) di

Why should anyone judge ? It is nobody's business what you do to your hair. Some look fabulous with gray hair and I'm not one of those people. I always feel refreshed after my color.

I actually did like my hair color before August of this year--decided to give myself a little make over due to my DS getting married in Sept--but while the woman that cuts my hair to prefection for me she cannot do a decent color--had highlights and lowlights done--my hair was a med brown with grey that looked really nice--but after all that hoopla--the color turned out a brassy dark blond---not awful, just not what I thought I was getting--then had a toner and then put a boxed color thru it--now have a slightly more reddish blond color to it---hate it ----and cost sooo much $$$ too--so do I go ahead and just live with it or find another box color and try to cover it all. Can tell you this--will NEVER do another color again.

I had a very expert hair stylist many years ago...he had been in charge of Neiman's salon, and really was able to give my fine thin hair a great cut...
however, he insisted that I have red hair!
Never felt comfortable with that
And felt like myself once I changed salons and went back to blonde!
