Re: BEAUTY PURCHASES & REVIEWS 8/11/17

@Katcat1, I am fair: I am on the lighter side although most of my foundations are in the medium range.

I thought about Chrissy's coloring and wondered how it would look. I honestly didn't like it the first couple of times I tried it. I think it was a matter of where I was DEPOSITING the color. I have since learned so much about placement from Wayne Goss.

The colors in this palette can truly be worn by anybody.

My trick with bronzer or any powder that I'm unfamiliar with is to always swipe it on my wrist first. When you use something that's too dark, it's almost impossible to correct.

Layering can make virtually any cosmetic usable. Some lines are better for ethnic skin tones or professional MU artists like Jay Manuel. I tried a few of his color cosmetics and they were so highly pigmented, it was frustrating.

I thought about Chrissy's "youth factor" as well. We older beauties can use glow: the difference is amount and placement.

I really think you would like it!

Hugs,

Poodlepet2

Re: BEAUTY PURCHASES & REVIEWS 8/11/17

Happy Friday!

We've been traveling so I haven't been as active as I'd like to be in the forums. We are home for a week before we take off again. Just want to explain why I am in and out around here. Once the kids get back to school, I'll be around more often.

I bought Skinn 6X Tropical Lip Balms. Haven't tried them yet, but they have excellent reviews. I also bought Skinn Hylighten Dark Circles. Another with excellent reviews. If this doesn't work, I am considering medical intervention. I tried T3 Luxe Hot Rollers A294392. Sadly a big disappointment and I love T3. Just couldn't deal with the crimp marks from clips and curl didn't last more than a couple hours. Last, I purchased Laura Geller Filter Blush A286291 and love it! Those are my purchases for the week Smiley Happy

Hi KatCat1

This week I purchased the Lancôme Mr. Big travel sized mascara to try it out.

This is Day 2 wearing it. It emphasizes my lashes nicely. Only negative I can say is that I wish Lancôme had introduced a brownish black color.

@JustJazzmom @Katcat1 I agree about a brown mascara. I have blond hair with a fair complexion. Black is a big contrast for my coloring.  I used to wear Clinique mascara because they offer brown. After the sales clerk raised her eyebrow and said "Are you sure you want brown?" This happened every time. I gave up. Also, I found that many times brown mascara was old or had a funky smell. Confirmed the fact that I was odd man out. Lol

This may seem silly to some.... I bought a Finishing Touch Flawless mini rotating-head shaver for those pesky hairs on my upper lip and chin.  I saw it on an infomercial in the middle of the night, but I bought it at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for less.  It's about the size of a fat tube of lipstick and runs on one AA battery.   So far, so good.  I "shaved" with it 3 days ago.  No pain while using it and no irritation later.  It got every little hair.  I will use it as needed, probably a couple times a week.  It's a keeper!

I need to get one of those (or their other version) at BBB too.  I've been using the epilator that QVC sells and it is great.  The hair doesn't grow back for a long time.  Thought I would use the Finishing Touch when I just have one or two and am in a hurry.  I used one of theirs years ago and don't know why I stopped.  Happy with the epilator though.

@Starliteshine,  Origins has a brown mascara and it is not dry.  Actually, I use it almost everyday. It's under $20.   I did purchase Clinique's brown mascara but it is on the dry side.

@Starliteshine,  Welcome and please come back when you can.  I think it is fun to review beauty products old or new.  We Beauties really learn from each other no matter what age we are.  I hope to see you again.

@Poodlepet2,  It definitely is a learning curve to work with Chrissy's product like you said.  Right now I have the luminous blush in a pink shade which is also a training curve to use.  You don't need much at all and I did not find it to be overly luminous.  I check in mirrors when I am outside too.  Becca is very new to me but I am surely enjoying their balm lipsticks, the one lip gloss I purchased (reasonable prices on both products).  Becca online is very good with offering discounts.  Each time I order they give me a pamphlet with a code for 15% discount and they have free shpg.  The founder of this cosmetic co. is one savvy lady.  Not only did she include all shades of women in all her advertising she also offers shades for all women.  I can see why she is successful.  It's about time.

Agree - love the mascara, but would much prefer a brownish-back shade!  Hopefully, Lancome will come through for us later!😊😏😊

You can call Lancôme on their toll free # and ask the C/S rep to add it to customer suggestions. I called them on something else and requested they put out in the future a brown/black version.

I got the Macys beauty box---thumbs down---may go one more month then prob quit. Samples were tiny, a couple things were ok in size, however one of them, eyeshadow, is something I never wear. Maybe was worth $10 but not $15.
