Ok Everyone, here we go! For those who are going to use the DermAppeal daily as Tina talked about during the last Skinn event, let's post here about how we're doing it, what we're seeing result-wise and thoughts.
Or, just read what others are doing.
Or, add your thoughts even though you're NOT doing the challenge, lol. This is our "Happy Skinn Place" so let's share and smile.
Having sensitive skin, I thought about the best way to apply it without over-working my face and neck due to the exfoliating nature of the product. I first cleansed with Skinn Olive Enzyme cleanser (no washcloth used) and dried my face with a towel. I applied the DermAppeal with a nylon makeup brush (a freebie from somewhere) and though it did spread it on easily, the product is too think for a smooth application. I took more and then patted it on all over my face and neck; no rubbing. I don't think the thickness of the mask is crucial; it's making sure that the entire surface is covered.
I spent 15 minutes with it on (was reading something) and was surprised that my skin was feeling just great with it on for that long (my intent was 5 MAYBE 10 minutes). Back to the sink, I PRESSED warm, damp hands onto my face and neck helping to melt the scrubbies and THEN gently rubbed over my face and neck area for about a minute (probably less). Using very warm water, I used my hands to splash remove the remainder of the mask (which was now the consistency of a milky cleanser due to the water being added to it).I then did a few splashes of very cool water which calmed down the menthol tingle on my skin. Pat dry, added my Isomers serum and nighttime moisturizer (usual routine) and went to bed.
This morning my face feels firmer. NO CLUE why but it does. Very interesting... have to say.
I did NOT experience any burning, redness, irritation, nothing during it or after and my skin is not red, sore, irritated in any way this morning. So far, so good!!
I'll report back after 7 days unless something major happens between now and then.

I have used this daily and never experienced any redness or irritation. I leave it in the shower and use it from hairline to braline.
It does a very nice job of exfoliating any rough spots and flaky skin. You have to make sure to rinse, rinse, rinse. It can clog pores if you don't get it all off. Has it turned back the clock? Hardly. Does it make a better surface to apply product and or makeup? I would say so.
This has been a product I have purchased more than once. Do I get nervous if I start to run low? No. Would I buy it if it wasn't a special price? No.
I an curious to read what others have to say about their experience with this.

So maybe I’m doing it wrong? I use the olive oil clothes, then the cleanser that came with the non negotiables, then put on the dermappeal do little circular motions walk around. In reality I probably only leave it there for 5 minutes then wet and rub a little more then rinse off. But I love the way my skin feels afterwards!

I have been using the DermAppeal nightly, as Tina described during the shows. I follow with the new Night Creme. My skin definitely feels more plump..after the first application. And, no, I am not expecting any miracles from on high. I am enjoying the results and will keep it up for the month, if not longer.

I am not new to DermAppeal, but it isn't the only exfoliator I've used either. Most of the time I would use a rice enzyme product or something with very fine grains (Vasanti Brighten Up Face Rejuevnator) a few times a week, then alternate the DermAppeal and the Skinn ABC Peels on the weekends. In taking the DermAppeal Challenge, my plan is to DermAppeal Mon. - Fri. and then do an ABC Peel once every other weekend
For about the last week and a half, I've been using the DermAppeal nightly, Mon. - Fri., then taking the weekends off. I have noticed improvement on my forehead where I have some sebaceous hyperplasia - not gone, but a noticable difference. I don't have a huge pore problem per se, but there's one on the tip of my nose that aggravates me. It is shrinking and the overall condition of my skin is more refined and younger looking. My face is smooth and my lips are nice and smooth too. I have not experienced any negatives like redness or irritation.
My method -
- cleanse
- apply the DermAppeal, not too thick but making sure everything is covered
- wait awhile (10-15 mins.) - use this opportunity to put my feet up, relax, do some deep breathing with the help from the menthol, and pet the dog ![]()
- dampen my face, neck, and dec with warm water on my fingertips and massage slowly and very gently, just enough to get the DermAppeal to move and start changing consistency.
- remove with a wet washcloth, repeating as much as needed until no residue remains
- spritz my face with Skinn Flash Flood
- proceed with the rest of my PM routine.

Well now that I’m reading with all of you right now I’m beginning to wonder if I’m missing the olive oil and enzyme cleanser. I apply it and then rinse it off with water... or is it supposed to be liked a cold cream that you apply and then just wipe off with a wash cloth?
When I use DermAppeal....I use it 3or 4 days a week on morning-clean skin so I usually don’t use the cleanser before hand I use the DermAppeal as if it were my only cleanser. Is that what anyone else does?

@Mothertrucker- some people use a cleansing oil as their only cleanser and others use it as a pre-cleansing step to remove their makeup and then follow up with another foaming/sudsing type cleanser that will remove any of the oil residue. I use Dr. Young Camellia Deep Cleansing Oil as my PM cleanser. I start out by using a facial wipe or micellar water on a cotton pad as the pre-cleanse, to get the surface makeup off. I apply the cleansing oil to my face, massage it around, add a little water and that turns the cleansing oil into a "milk", I continue massaging, using my Foreo Luna dupe, for a little while before rinsing with warm water. I would use the same method, if I were using the Skinn PM cleanser, which I do on occasion. I would never apply a cleansing oil or the PM cleanser and just wipe it off. I think it needs a true rinse. I also believe the cleansing is important before doing the DermAppeal mask/treatment, not only to actually clean, but as a way to prepare the skin for that step.

Thanks, yes, I like a true rinse as well!... I generallly do the Demappeal in the morning, in the shower...

@Mothertrucker I believe that depending on your skin, how you cleanse can differ quite a bit.
When I do an manual exfoliation, I don't use a washcloth at night to clean my skin (too much for my skin to handle). If I haven't worn any makeup that day, I use a very mild milky cleanser that rinses off with water. If I've worn a heavy dose of SPF plus a full face of makeup (especially if it's summertime), I do an oil cleanse and then another cleanse afterwards, rinsing well. The SkinnPM cleanser can be used as a second cleanse product or as your first cleanse; it all depends on your skin and what you need to wash off. I always follow with a rinse as my face doesn't feel clean without it.
Having dry to very dry skin, using DermAppeal as a cleanser on MY skin would be too much. It just depends on the person : )
This "challenge" is simply because of Tina, who had WOW skin, telling us she saw these amazing results when she started using DermAppeal as a mask and then as a scrub nightly. I (and others) want to see if we'll get the same WOW results following this technique.

I have been doing it...BUT my way LOL! Since I already was a user of DermAppeal I thought ok let's see here. I have sensitive skin and rosacea plus acne YUK.
I find I like to use the DermAppeal in the mornings....in the shower. So that's what I do daily now. I tried it at night...leaving it on for a few minutes but I dislike the menthol...it severs ZERO purpose and is a known skin irritant I wish he would remove that from this great product. I then wash with my Paul's choice cleanser to get rid of any oil or menthol from the DermAppeal. THat step for me is a MUST.
Now I am adding in a different element to this also. Started last night. Instead of using his AM cleanser in the AM LOL I am going to use it only on my trouble areas....forehead nose and chin area. I find this cleanser to be strong and also on the drying side...perfect for my t-zone.
So far since doing the DermAppeal daily my forehead looks so much better! I have large pores and too much oil production. They are much smaller and cleaners. My nose/side of it....seems to be impossible to clean out even biore strips don't get rid of the gunk there YUK! So I am hoping in the next few days the AM cleanser will clear it out...heck I am thinking of leaving it on there for several minutes like a short mask and then rinse it off tonight from now on.
I'll update my progress as the month goes on...so far so good!
