I know this has been discussed before......... I just watched the Artis Foundation Brush demo and need to know if they really work that well?  Are they worth that inflated price?  (OK, I'll probably buy it on eBay instead).  Do you like it, and why?   Or not like it?

Any reviews on the Artis Foundation Brush?

Thanks!

I tried them. I liked them but the price is way too high, IMO. I returned them and got dupes from Amazon that I'm very happy with.

I bought a set for $29 (that shows you how over priced they are) from an online discount place. During holidays, at the end of talk shows, Extra, the View and so on have these "best gift buys" presentations.

There was a set that "was $195.00, and now only $29"! (audience goes wild). I figured I would try them.

I am not overly fond of them. For first application of anything (foundation, blush, eyeshadow or whatever), they are very hard to work with. I am not sure if it is because they pick up too much product or the product just clings to the brushes hairs unevenly or what it is, but I make a mess.

What they are good for is blending everything out at the end. They do make a nice finish.....but not for the high prices I have seen them at.

Meh, $29 and I still don't pick them up as my first choice of brush.

I did purchase the Artis foundation brush. Yes I paid $62, but it is great. Makeup goes on flawlessly. Much better then other tools I have used in the past.Yes it is pricey, and not for everyone, but it worked for me.

I have the Artis oval 7 brush and I use it for foundation application.  I don't pick up my foundation with it but instead quickly spread dots of my foundation on my face and then blend it with the Artis brush.  Foundations that I didn't think I liked ended up being my favorites after getting the Artis brush due to the even application it provides.  I previously had a few less expensive knock-offs but they didn't blend as evenly.  Recently, I've been curious about the Real Techniques version and have seen some very good reviews on them so that may be something to explore if you're interested in this type of brush.

On HSN today I saw a demo and I am also intrigued. 109 for 5 brushes and the cleanser didn't seem that horrible to me.

I'm not someone who sees a huge difference between the drug store and the premium brands so will these be just more of the same?

I bought this set a while back. LIke the brushes but not overwhelmed with them. My big complaint is no mater how well you clean them the bristles end up clumping together the more you use the brushes. Not easy to clean and for some reason after you clean them they take forever to dry (think its because they are so dense). The smaller round brush and the smaller oval brush, use those brushes everyday for concealer to highlighter...even eyeshadow.  Also use the eyeliner brush daily.  The smaller round brush is my favorite. The foundation brush, works well for powders and liquid. Love using it for my Bare Minerals original foundation it lays it down flawlessly. Its a good set but don't think its a "holy grail" brush set. A beauty blender works just as well for foundation.

I have 10 of these brushes and although yes, they do apply makeup flawlessly & naturally, they waste a lot of your foundation, etc.. What I do not like is the brushes must be cleaned with Artis cleanser after each use for best results and minimal damage to the brush heads.

Re: Artis Makeup Brushes

@deedledeedeedle~ do you have to use the Artis cleanser?  I always clean my brushes after each use, but I use whatever soap is handy.  Having to use their cleanser would just add to the cost.

@nomless ~ which dupes did you buy on Amazon?   I've looked at some dupes on eBay.  I definitely do not want to pay the $$$$ of the Artis brushes on HSN.

I use liquid foundations sometimes - I suppose it would be best to dot on the liquid and then blend with the Artis oval brush.  Right?   Most often I use a compact foundation (CG AquaSmooth) and wonder how to use the Artis brush with that, since someone here said makeup clumps up on these brushes.

Oh well, I probably won't buy Artis, but the presentation made me curious.

Thanks for all the information!

I have both the Artis and some high end dupes.

The main difference is

the foundation brushes

-Artis creates a flawless finish fast

-the Artis brushes do not mop up the product.  I use very expensive foundations so a brush or sponge that soaks product is a waste of my $$
