I so agree! I cannot, nor do I want to pay the prices that the designers charge for their cosmetics -Dior, Chanel, etc. i am sure they are wonderful products and I say, if you can afford it, and it brings you happiness, then sure, go ahead. I want to have effective products and ones that suit my needs, but I just have to find ones that do the job for much less. The most expensive thing I use is LG Balance & Brighten. I got a set awhile back and got a decent deal. I had always wanted to try this product and I'm so glad I did. But for the most part, I have found that the drug stores have a lot of great offerings for so much less.

Everything costs more now. It is a mess.

I tend to buy what works for me. Many times it's drugstore stuff!
A fav eyeshadow of mine is $1.99 ! I have a favorite drugstore foundation, Rimmel, that I mix with Shiseido Synchro-Skin foundation to make the best foundation I have ever used on my skin!
So I guess I am very high-low. I tend to spend more on skin-care. But, if you like make-up there are plenty of great dupes out there, if you don't know where to start, check out Make-up Revolution. They have made their mark by duping everything!

everything today is up in price. This is why I’m still working. Guess I like money 💰 too much and hate the thought of living on a fixed income. I have no problem paying 90 dollars for a Trish M foundation because that foundation is fabulous and it works for me. What anybody spends their money on I could care less. It’s their money.

Nope, because I don't ever buy the high-priced stuff.
But I have noticed that even my drugstore products are going up in price and probably will go higher.

It doesn't affect me much because I quit shopping for and buying makeup as a hobby a few years ago. I have pared down to very very few things and found that a few does better than many because I only kept what I have, what looks good on me and what I would really use.
It's easy to be lured in by all the colors, pretty things, and advertising, so I try to avoid it. I'm going to replace a couple of lipsticks because I've had mine a year now, and some mascara and that's all I need a the moment.
So, that being said, I can buy expensive makeup and I am not spending nearly as much because I don't buy much. You can spend a fortune in a hurry on drugstore makeup, can't try it, don't like it, see something new when you drop in and get that (after all it's not THAT expensive) and have spent hundreds and hundreds before you know it.
I had to quit! LOL!!!!!! Pretty much cold turkey!!!

What I'm sick of is all the hype and false promises---and the cost too. I don't watch many make up shows anymore---ridiculous claims for the most part. I have the things that work for me but NEVER expect life changing results.

One day I realized that looking at my girl friends, I could not tell you which one wore expensive make up. I don't think it makes that much of a difference in your overall appearance. Think of the money saved from buying at the drugstore, Target, etc. and your friends will not notice the difference.

It is true that persistance pays off trying to find dupes but they are out there. The trouble with drugstore cosmetics is that you can't test them to color match. Once you find a color match, it does become easier. Recently I tried L'Oreal Pro Glow Foundation. It took about 6 trips back and forth but finally found a good color for me. I love this foundation for my aging, dry skin. It also wears as well as my high end brands.

I watch for sales online. And it is usually drug-store box-store versions. No intention of ever paying top dollar for cosmetics of any kind.
