I know I am. Every time I turn around Laura Mercier is raising her prices and she is not alone. Bobbi Brown is high and Trish McEvoy is out of her mind with her prices. I don't dare even look at Armani, Dior, Chanel, Clarins. OMG! How do you feel about it? I started shopping for alternatives but it's not easy.

Hi @Katcat1. Do you watch the beauty You Tubers? There's tons of videos out there that suggest dupes for the higher priced makeup products. Then it's trial and error time until you find one that makes you happy...

Swore off high-priced cosmetics and skin care over a year ago....back to drugstore purchases....very happy with the results and the extra money in my pocket....

I found a CC cream by Almay with spf and it sells for only $11. in Walmart. For me works as good as the It cc cream I was spending much more on.

My issue is when products are discontinued...the cost to find a replacement is exorbitant❣️

Actually I buy all mine at Dollar Tree

I was paying roughly $34 for the IT eyebrow pencils I loved, but they too often broke in the pencil/tube and then fall onto the floor. Even putting it back into the tube was not successful. so I was spending a lot of money on a product I didn't get a lot of to begin with (and I don't press hard on it). So I set out to rediscover the "old" brands and I found a Maybelline eyebrow product that acted gel-like just like my favorite IT product. Price? Around $7.95. I'm loving it and am now looking at CC creams in an "old" brand. Could I possibly get lucky again? I hope so....

I'll admit that I have an affinity for fine cosmetics and usually find that I have to pay a bit more to get them. That is not to say that I don't buy the lower cost brands sold in drugstores because there are some in my makeup case. One of my current favorite eyeshadow palettes is from Maybelline, and I frequently recommend their foundations to when asked about one in the $10 range.
@LTT1 Have you ever tried to find your discontnued product using Google? Sometimes you run across a small inventory somewhere. I was looking for Mercier's Smooth Finish Fluide foundation in Amber because that color was discontinued last year, and I believe Laura will soon discontinue the formula. To make the short story shorter, I found inventory and ordered a couple which should give me two more years with the product since I do not wear the same foundation everyday.

If you happen to prefer department store products, just don't buy impulsively. It's been quite a while since I've bought any cosmetics other than replacing the basics (foundation, concealer, and maybe brow and mascara).
But if you love to buy and buy but money is a factor, there are many good alternatives.

Depends. I'll spend for Anastasia Brow Wiz. Good colors and I get all day wear. Like 10 to 12 hr wear. L'Oreal makes a nice dupe but it doesn't last all day.
L'Oreal Colour Riche lipstick gives me hours of wear. Tarte at more than double the price? An hour or two.
