in HS i parted my long hair in the middle, like most of the girls and guys.
but the guys had a rough time getting their hair to look neat, trying to get their hair growing down past their chin and if they had wavy or curly hair, it stuck out. yet very few wore their hair short and tidy.
@CatsyCline My sister graduated in 1973 and she had that middle part in her Senior portrait. I remember her sleeping in large rollers. I know some used orange juice cans to roll their hair.
@Icegoddess i didn't know at the time about the orange juice cans but heard about them being used a few years later.
for Christmas i got a Gillette Super Max hair dryer. it had a brush attachment and made my hair really straight.

I understand your dilemma and can sympathize with you. 🙃🙃. I did try the part on the other side thing, to get more lift, but it just does not work for me. I wish it would, but no way will my hair cooperate. 🤣🤣🤣
My hair and cowlick can be a real pain.
I am a bit self conscious of my hair anyway, as it has thinned a bit.

I'm one of those girls who slept with her hair rolled in Orange Juice cans all through high school and into college! Sometimes, we even ironed our hair.
As I remember those crazy days, I wonder why I didn't simply keep my natural curls cut shorter (and very easy to care for) rather than mess with the thick, long stands of locks which required so much TLC.
Young and dumb? Probably.
Had to learn beauty was also from within! Then, I had my hair cut and never used rollers again. Just let my natural curl air dry and fluff it into place! So easy and prettier, too.

Middle mostly, occasionally on the left, but not often.
My niece (26) says that side parts are back in a big way. She has an undercut, parted on the side.

Middle parts have been the trend for a few years. I heard many influencers say it's more youthful than side parts. Some YouTubers I follow actually switched from a side to a center part. Now, some are going back to side parts. Why, I don't know. Maybe just to do something different. Their hair, their choices.
I wore my long hair parted down the middle like most everyone else in the 60s and 70s. I've been side parting since the 80s. Every time I try a center part, I change it back to the side. I just think a side part is more flattering on me.

During high school I wore my hair long, straight and parted down the middle (like everyone else). For years now I have worn a side part except when I wear it pulled back in a low sleek ponytail. I revert back to a middle part.
