Apply mousse to soaking wet hair?

Hello! I noticed on the 613 mousse video that Chaz says to apply it to soaking wet hair. Is that how all of you do it? I feel like once I wrap my hair in the towel the mousse will be lost in the towel - it's such a foreign idea for me to do it that way but I'll give it a try. Just wondering if most here do the "soaking wet hair" route or if some do apply it to towel-dried hair and what type of results they get. Thanks! Smiley Happy

I've been doing the soaking wet version since Chaz's last visit when he mentioned that. I was using it after I towel dried prior to that. I think my short hair has more volume when I put it in soaking wet hair.

I've been adding the CC/SC leave-in to soaking we hair while I was still in the shower. Then I would blot dry my hair with a cotton t-shirt and add the mousse. I was afraid I would lose most of the mousse when I was blotting the excess water out of my hair. But since applying the mousse to soaking wet hair seems to be working well for others, I think I'll give it a try.

I don't have the mousse yet, but I have curly hair and have always put my products (in particular for when I wear it curly) in sopping wet hair to reduce frizz.

Re: Apply mousse to soaking wet hair?

I always thought you should get some of the moisture out of your hair first before applying extra products such as mousse, styling cremes, etc. So, I put my hair up in a towel while I apply body lotion and then apply product to my hair. Maybe this is one of the reasons why I have such a problem with frizz??? I just figured if you put the extra things in your hair when it was ringing wet, that it just got swished and combed away and did no good. Hmmmm.... I guess what do I know???

It's something that I learned online when I figured out I have curl and not wonky straight hair LOL. I'm a stylist, and I didn't even learn that in hair school. They teach you bare minimum in hair school on products. So I guess "always" is actually only the last 10 years or so LOL.

Re: Apply mousse to soaking wet hair?

I use Six Thirteen Mousse on my soaking wet hair as well, I keep it right in the shower. After cleansing and rinsing my hair I put one pump of CC back into my wet hair (rake, twist and push through the ends rake the remainder through the top of my head). Then I take one and a half pumps of Six Thirteen Styling Creme and apply it to my hair (rake, twist and push through the ends rake the remainder through the top of my head). Finially I apply 6 pumps of Six Thirteen Mousse to the midshaft down to the ends of my hair (rake, twist, and push all 6 pumps in to the midshaft and ends). Then I apply 6 more pumps to the top of my head (really working it into my hair and scalp). Then I take my comb and comb my hair in the shower while wet just to be sure I have distributed all the products evenly through my hair. I have long hair that is very straight, it falls right above the small of my back. It is fine, but very think. I use 2 pillowcases to wrap my wet hair up and dry it. Then depending on what I am doing I air dry my hair or blow my hair dry with the nozzle of course. Smiley Happy

I'm going to try this! My hair has turned curly in the last year and I'm trying to figure out what the heck to do with it! I don't use WEN, but I'm sure this technique works with other brands too. Thanks!

I don't use WEN. I bought the TSV for my mother and I watched a couple shows to get the details down. Chaz said soaking hair.

I ring my hair out, apply my leave-in/serum combo and work it through, ring it out again, add in SC/oil mixture and work that in, ring my hair again, and then add in my mousse. Then I put it up in a turbie. Perhaps I should try less ringing of my hair before adding in the mousse.

Re: Apply mousse to soaking wet hair?

No, I apply it to damp hair and it works wonderfully. It imparts a lot of shine and my hair has tons of volume from it. The best mousse I have ever used ..... But I have very straight non frizzy hair to begin with..
