When I do get serious I also think it makes my skin more wrinkled. I'm very careful and gentle. So I just stick with Ponds.

@MW in Iowa If you are looking for something extremely hydrating try Aveda's Botanical Kinetics Hydrating lotion. I love it because you only need a small amount because it spreads easily. You get 5 oz. for $35 which will probably last one year. They also have it for sensitive skin too, if you prefer. I use it during the day when I don't wear makeup at home and at bedtime. ![]()

For me, I think less is more. I see some of the 5+ step skincare routines, all the exfoliating manually plus with products, using the Clarisonic, microneedling, using that Popsonic device or one similar and think if I did all that to my skin, it would be a complete mess. I think that is way, way too much assault on the skin.
I use a very simple routine and my skin is much happier then when I was piling on serums, oils, acids, moisturizers. I realize not everything works for everyone but sometims I wonder how good some of this really is for the skin.

How do you feel w/out HA in product just hydration? There should be a noticeable difference. Try w/out the HA for a week to make a comparison.
@maestra Yes, you are correct. Hyaluronic Acid actually pulls moisture out of the air to hydrate your skin. So, when the moisture in the air is dry, it actually pulls moisture out of your skin.

@momoftwo2007 It is worse in dry climates. When we’re on vacation in Arizona, I check ingredients & leave anything w/ hyaluronic acid home. I also adjust my other skincare to eliminate exfoliants, etc. that my skin has no problem w/ in humid NC.

I found only using my Clarisonic once a day instead of twice helped a lot. I was having some flaking and broken capillaries...as soon as I stopped using it both morning and night. I saw a big improvement while still using my same skin care products. I think this is especially true for women over 50 or so...I find a major milia problem with anything petroleum- based. I have eliminated many things by trial and error....my head isn't turned by 20 something models hawking a new product. We all should find what works for us and stay with it. I think more is not better; piling on the products can't possibly be a benefit...our skin has to breathe!

@lovesrecess Using the Clarisonic only once a day is recommended. Twice is overkill. No wonder you were experiencing drying/flaking especially if using other products that were also exfoliants, acids, etc.

@Lipstickdiva I am agreeing with you. My skin is much happier with a simple skincare routine--cleanser, toner, moisturizer at night. And just cleanser (or only water), sunscreen and moisturizer in the morning.
