I think it depends on who you ask.. My opinion is that these items aren't necessary, and a cloth works just as well. Other swear by these machines, claiming that they help more than a cloth.
Maybe they do a good job, but I don't intend to purchase any to find out.

What brands did you both buy??? Did they have 8 intensity options like th TSV?
@rms1954 Look at the thread in the TSV forum. All the info is there. Mine has several speed adjustments. When you find the one I named, you'll be able to look it up and read all about it.

@RollTide2008 I started using a silicone sonic cleansing tool many years ago and it made a huge improvement to cleaning and reducing my pores. I also believe the vibrations provide beneficial facial massage.

Vibration (sonic) cleans better than manual methods. For example, sonic toothbrushes are proven to clean much better than manual brushing. Same can be said for facial cleansing.

For the past 3 to 4 years I've been using a small silicone pad -- exactly the same silicone surface of these electronic tools. But it's just a round, two-sided pad. The pressure I apply is my own, since it's all manual. I use circular, vertical, and horizontal motions on different areas of my face. The pad is flexible, so it goes in nooks and contours of my face perfectly.
My skin has never looked better!
I bought 8 pads for I think less than $10 on Amazon. I know some will say you must have the pulsating or sonic power to get really clean. I just don't agree, for my face anyway.
I also use a separate one for my make-up brushes and it cleans them beautifully. It cleans so well I use much less cleanser to get those bristles like new.

In all practicality you really don't need, or won't use, all 8 levels of cleaning. But to answer your question, my Foreo dupe (Anself brand, no longer avail) looked and operated exactly like the Foreo I once owned which had 6 levels I think...can't remember exactly and I just set the thing on the highest setting and be done with it.
Thank you as always.

No not for me. I still use my Mia and have enough brush heads for another 3 years---I stocked up. but do have the knock off version of the TSV---got it from AMZ for way under $20 a few years ago---was ok, not that impressed.

I bought a similar item at Aldi ~1.5 yrs ago for < $20. I also own a Clarisonic but I figured this would be better for travel since it holds it charge for quite a while. And of course, there is no ongoing cost of ownership like Clarisonic.

I have one but it is by Pop Sonic "the Leaflet" that I purchased over a year ago at the Q . One thing I can say is when I first used it it cleaned out my pores
