I not sure what the OP means by " safe" sunscreen. I didn't know they were risky...

BUT I want to put a RAVE out about a new sunscreen I tried that I am loving and it's a drugstore product!
It's Cerave Hydrating mineral sunscreen, SPF 30 (physical coverage, zinc oxide) . It goes on like a CC, but light, sheer, not pasty or thick, and not greasy, it absorbs well- I am using it as a primer. Bought 2 already. Love it!  HTH!

To me a "safe sunscreen" is one which is labeled 'broad-spectrum'. That could be mineral or chemical as long as it protects you from the UVA and UVB rays.

I have used Neutrogena for Faces 70 spf for years.  Rubs right in, no grease, makeup goes on nicely.

Re: Any recommendations for a safe sunscreen?

Like so many things now, I'm afraid of all sunscreens.  I am sick of trying to figure out what is really a threat, or what somebody just doesn't like, finds offensive, or doesn't like because of the company that made it.

I don't know what to do about so many things.  So much of what we read and see is simply lies, misinformation, or junk put out to support an agenda.

I only use mineral sunscreen since I don't care for the chemicals (which can also stain clothing), I like the Austrilian Gold Sunscreen, plays well with foundation too.

My DH is a walker, I bought this one for him last time he needed one and he really liked it.

I use Dr.Denese Day Cream which is a multi task product (SPF30/moisturizer and foundation) all in one. I have fair,sensitive skin and this works for me.

Re: Any recommendations for a safe sunscreen?

Thank you all for the many recommendations.  I will be checking them all out!  Sorry I didn't clarify by what I meant by" safe".  I had been reading about how some chemicals in a sunscreen can accumulate in your body which could be harmful.  I purchased Neutrogena a few months ago but read that one of the ingredients in it may be questionable.

For me choosing one type of sunscreen over the other is a personal choice I make. I think as long as you do something to protect your skin from getting sun damage is the right thing to do and how you do that is up to you as long as you feel comfortable with it so you will continue using whatever you have chosen.

@SilleeMee ...would you like share some of your personal favorites??  I'm still fussing with the LaRoche I mentioned in my earlier post...sometimes it pills/flakes...with anything I use.  I think im going to return it. My Shiseido Urban is too drying...im reluctant to try their lotion spf...maybe thatll be greasy..idk...just really hard to find a broad spectrum, (not only mineral) that agrees with a light foundation. I understand poster here wants something safe...that said, I've mentioned many times...mineral based sunscreens have caused me to get brown spots in time.

@Dazlin

I've always used Neutrogena brand. The one I'm using now for my face is their Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 70 w/AVO. That has been dc'd so I've been looking for a replacement. I'm looking at some alternative chemical sunscreens, particularly at some Asian products. Have yet to try them but from what I understand the chemical used in Asian sunscreens are reportedly safe. I haven't done enough research about Asian sunscreens yet so I can't give a full report about them yet.  But that's where I'll be heading to use soon. I have three full bottles left of the Neutrogena and I don't want to waste them so it will be a while until i get to the Asian stuff.
