Any great at home oil treatments anyone has found?

Help, I am almost out of my WEN oils and my budget not allowing me to continue purchasing --I have to scale down and I will not stop with the CC's or remoist so I'm going to try my own oil treatments. Anyone have any tried and true formulas? I did find one on the internet that I'm willing to go to the whole foods store to make. I found the bottles there and they are just like the WEN bottles only empty so you can make your own. This one that I found has several essential oils plus the carriers. Still would like some tried and true before I attempt my own. Thanks anyone who can help!

I have never tried to make my own oils but do remember reading threads about Wen users that do make their own oils. Hopefully, someone will respond to your request. Not many posters recently on this site. Much quieter than usual.

Yes, I agree, it is quiet. I will keep checking back. I remember way back when seeing some, and I might try to do an advanced search to find an old thread. I saw that Dr. Dennis Gross has a scalp serum, and it contains rosemary among other things with decent reviews, it was $50 something, so not cheap, but I ordered his tsv and went ahead and ordered that too so I could try it. Thanks for your response!

I use a USDA Certified Organic (unrefined) Extra Virgin Coconut Oil for my facial moisturizer and the occasional hair treatment (maybe a couple times in the winter). This has literally saved me over a thousand dollars in the past year, plus it actually works better than all the lotions and potions I was buying. By using the Wen CCs, I don't really require oil treatments anymore {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}. A twelve oz. container of coconut oil costs $6.36! If you don't like it on your skin and scalp, you can use it for cooking.

Hey Tori, here is a link with loads of info about DIY oils back from 2013.

http://community.qvc.com/forums/wen/topic/381833/diy-oils.as

I answered then but this is an updated recipe for what I've been using for the past year as a treatment/scalp oil; carrier oils: 3/4 jojoba - 1/4 fractionated coconut oil (for a 4oz bottle, 3oz of jojoba and 1oz of fract. coc. oil) to which I add my essential oils - 6% tea tree eo, 2% eucalyptus eo, 2% rosemary. Sometimes I just mix 10% tt eo straight w/out the other 2 eos, depending on what I have on hand. I use the frac.coc.oil to stretch my jojoba oil a bit to save even further.

Both carrier oils have a long shelf life and do not break me out. I love frac. coc. oil(so light, sinks right in with no oily residue and w/out the strong coconut smell, if it's not your preference) I use it alone unscented or with lemongrass or grapefruit eos on my entire body and as a styling oil for my hair, I mix it with my Fig CC for a deep treatment and it is so affordable! (I have long curly hair).

There are so many good carrier oils, the possibilities are endless. You can google "comedogenic ratings" for carrier oils to decide which to choose to avoid any break outs. Also about carrier to eos ratio online, i.e how many drops of eos to add per ounce of carrier oil. I always mix fresh each 4oz bottle (using my old Wen oil bottles {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}) and let it "sit" overnight prior to using , it's been working great for years now. I don't know how sensitive your scalp is to eos, and since we don't know how concentrated the Wen oils are, maybe start at 5% and go from there? HTH Smile

Wonderful! This makes me very happy because I do love the oils (I don't use them before every wash, that would be every day, but I do sleep with them on at least once a week! Thank you thank you thank you! I'm going to the health food store this weekend to pick these up! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
