Any Rodan & Fields skincare users -- opinions please -- considering buying

I have finally come to the conclusion everything I've used in the past few years are worthless & overpriced.

When I went to dermatologist told me Philosphy & IT products were "clogging" my pores.  I switched to Beekman had good results but not lately.

I went this week for something else.  She looked at my face & I have milia & clogged pores, skin roughness  & other issues developed over time.  She wanted to do a chemical peel & some type of smoothing lazer treatments...not for me!  Then sell me her skincare products $$$$.

I have friends who use Dr. Denese but now they are jumping on the R&F skincare regime through a consultant.

I have to admit I'm one who never really did my skincare routine 100% & I am at the pool everyday (use Nuetrogeona sunscreen on my face) so my skin is not in great shape.  I wish I had my sisters beautiful skin (she's 52 & I'm 62) all she has ever used is Ponds cream & Clinique.  Now, she is using R&F and very satisfied.

I know many here are knowledgeable and will give me the pros & cons.

Thank You ...or shall I say my skin will say "thanks"😉

Re: Any Rodan & Fields skincare users -- opinions please -- considering buying

I have the pickiest skin EVER.

It is combo/oily/easily dehydrated/old skin that breaks out from every dang thing that is meant to actually do anything.

I was getting so frustrated so mine friend, who has very pretty skin, told me she was using R&F & her daughter sells it!

So I signed up...don't do it. Just..don't...do...it....

Not that the products are necessarily bad, but they aren't necessarily good & the system of ordering is a pain in the bottom.

I told her that I don't have acne, but I do break out from using products, so she still told me I needed the Unblemish line. I liked a couple of the products, but the cleanser gave me dermatitus & the oil control lotion broke me out.

You can't return part of a set. You have to return the complete set.

And, if you just want to mix & match products that work for you, it costs more.

My sister gave me the ends of her Redefine set to try & that set didn't work for me, either.

She didn't hate it, but she went through 2 sets & didn't see any difference in her skin.

I do like the Multi Function Eye Cream, the Micro Dermabrasion Paste, & the Mineral Peptides Broad Spectrum SPF 20.

The Lash Boost definitely made my lashes longer & I may buy it again.

It's just a hassle to be so limitied in how you can order products. A set is cheaper, but you may not need or want the complete set.

You do what you want, of course, but I think that you can find equally good products with recommendations from here & maybe Makeupalley.

I just wasn't wowed with most of the products & my rep didn't have a clue about skincare.

Good luck to you.

@homedecor1  I have never used Rodan & Fields. But I do agree with you that IT products I tried (and I tried several) all clogged my pores and make me break out.

I am reluctant to even try Rodan & Fields because of the high price tag. And many articles that I read said that they are good products, but you can find products like them for much cheaper.  Here is an article from Allure.

https://www.allure.com/story/rodan-fields-skin-care-consultants

Here a quote in case you don't want to read the whole article

"The regimens are also, by most accounts, effective. "It's a very high-quality line," says cosmetic chemist Jim Hammer. He commends several of the products for their skillful formulation and use of novel ingredients, such as the Reverse Skin Lightening Toner, which has components that help its active ingredient, hydroquinone, penetrate the skin better. But he also notes that some of the offerings, such as the Essentials Daily Body Moisturizer and Essentials Foaming Sunless Tan, have less expensive equivalents. "Not to say that they aren't good products," Hammer says, "but they're not unlike similar products that can be found at the drugstore."

Just curious, since Clinique works so well for your Sis, do you have similar skin types, except your’s has issues?  (No snark intended)

Wondering if she could guide you through with Clinique?

I too have combo / oily skin that breaks out if I breath heavily!

But since my eyes are sensitive to sun I always kept my face covered in my sunning days.  Now I’m a mushroom 🍄!

Hope you find solutions, breaking out skin is a PITA.

Be sure to share your adventures.

@Dusty1

thank you for the insight. I "wonder" whether this consultant referred to me has any background in skincare either except what she may "learn" thru R&F manager.  Don't get me wrong nice girl but I haven't seen too much "improvement" in her skin.  I have a feeling she's building clientele thru friends, family & friends of friends to keep it going (which I totally understand).

Many of the people recommending R&F to me are late 30's early 40s.  My sister has always had beautiful skin and always used Ponds cream and honestly, I don't know why she changed.

working well for her & she takes hours in the AM to do hair/makeup before she goes to work -- me rarely wear makeup just a little blush & mascara (when I'm in the mood).

I have "combination skin" but sometimes dry.

I got the "options" for my skin & prices of kits from the consultant. Yikes!!!  I'd be investing over $200 to just get started and their refund/return policy is as you stated.

Thank you for your review!

@Drythe

I know her Clinique regime and products she uses (make-up).  She's a Ponds Cream girl as long as I can remember...like our mother.  My mother had beautiful creamy and bright skin -- so I kid her I got my dads good looks and she got our mothers great skin!

My skin is so sensitive now as I'm "aging" it doesn't like trying & switching ...  it's not happy!

I love being outside and a great tan but my sister does not ever go in the sun without a hat & lots of sunscreen.  Even as kids our summers were spent at our beach house -- she was usually under the umbrella!

I think I'll pass on buying into R&F and take the advice of dermatologist -- cleanse with Cetaphil and use their moisturizer.  I don't believe they have various products like IT, etc.

Thanks for your reply...guess I'm going to be wearing that hatin the sun more often!

Such a frustrating situation, I know. I have had great luck with Neutrogena and Simple products, as well as Dr. Perricone in the higher end range. That said, the very best advice I can share, once you find a skincare line that works for you, is regular monthly facials. They can be very reasonably priced and make all the difference in the world in how your skin looks and feels.

You will be paying for the name only!! They use the same ingredients found in much less expensive brands.

@homedecor1

A gal I work with is using Rodan and Fields all the time for her skin care routine. She signed up to get the discount of 10%, but does not involve herself with the business (it is a multi-level marketing company, as I understand it).

She has lovely skin and says it is the only line that has given her smooth skin. She is Hispanic and said her skin before using R&F was "thick and rough." But R&F has smoothed out her skin and I think she looks wonderful.

I use the Lash Booster from R&F. I did not sign up to get the discount, but do pay $150 for the product. I started using it in February and just recently opened the second purchase of this item, so it lasts a long time.

My eyelashes were very light colored (I have gray/silver hair) and the lashes were getting fewer and farther between as I am getting older. The Lash Booster not only has increased the length of my lashes, the lashes are coming in darker and are filling in where they were sparse. I rarely wear mascara now because the use of this product makes my eyes/lashes stand out.
