I have brown spots (melasma, hyperpimentation, whatever) on my cheeks. Is there a product that really helps? I have used retin a and retinols for years. I can't see that they have made any difference. ![]()

The only real treatment for brown spots is a series of IPL treatments. It’s amazing and worth every penny!

If you can see a Dermatologist, s/he will be able to give you advice, many are not that pricey.

TriLuma (Rx) is made to be used for melasma; it is very expensive, but can be ordered from Alldaychemist.com for a significantly lowered price. You can go to derm for Rx also, but cost in US is very $$.
I now purchase mine from there-same product as in the USA. Only use 3-6 months at a time, 1x aday (nightly), refrigerate after opening. Works.
Much cheaper than Fraxel. Not all laser is effective on melasma (my personal experience at least).

@ElvisShops - @Kachina624 had a post titled Fade Age Spots a few weeks ago regarding a product she has been using. You might want to check it out.

CO2 lasers (YAG), not Fraxel, work much better for melasma. Fractional lasers (Fraxel is the brand name) are less effective because they don't go deep enough into the skin to reach the melanocytes where pigment is produced. YAG lasers, otoh, go deep and zap those melanocytes which can often be a permanent result.
Fraxel treatments may work but they are often temporary.
Most OTC topicals only treat the surface and require continuous use for them to be effective...it's like putting a bandaid on top of the real problem which lies deeper within the skin's dermal layer. Once you stop using the topical then your spots come back and usually in the same areas.

This product really faded the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and gave me a brighter/clearer complextion. HSN used to carry it, but now they're on Evine. I purchase it directly from their site. Around 34.00.

Tri Luna did nothing for me. Serious skin c products do help and Bad body c serum worked for me as well. These lightened some, but you need to see a professional for real chznge.

I hate to be out the expense of lasers, but they may indeed be the best option. Have any of you heard of the PicoSure laser? I might go for a consultation.
I appreciate your responses.
