This post has nothing to do with anything sold by QVC. It's just my own personal interpretation of events over the past year.

I turned 50 this past October. I have been lucky enough to always receive compliments on my complexion (unlined and clear, no blotching). About halfway to 50 I decided to treat myself to a facial. The facial was wonderful, and the aesthetician was very complimentary of my routine (all drugstore stuff). She used some things on my skin which were very soothing and new to me. I decided to purchase a misting power peptide (Bioelements). Next time I went for a facial she told me I needed to start using an eye cream since I had never used one on a regular basis (so I went online and started with a Bioelements multi-task eye cream). Didn't do so well so eventually tried two other brands. Noticed about a month ago that my eyes didn't look so good. Started seeing undereye criss-cross wrinkles I'd never seen before, and my skin just didn't look like I was used to.

Short story: I've ditched all the expensive stuff I was led to believe I needed. I no longer get facials. I'm sticking with my Borage Dry Skin Therapy 24-hour repair cream, jojoba oil from Trader Joe, and Super City Block from Clinique, and witch hazel for skin tonic (with the occasional 7-day skin scrub from Clinique and Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules when I feel the need). My skin is now back to "my normal" and the little criss-crosses under my eyes are disappearing. As long as I drink a lot of water and stay away from salty foods, following my usual skincare routine, I'm good. I don't need to look like a 25 year old. I just want to look good for 50.

The facialist I went to is highly touted on Yelp. I don't blame her so much. She just gave me recommendations. It was my fault for thinking I needed to make changes to my skincare regime.

From my experience, I think paying a lot for facial care is unnecessary and doesn't work, and can certainly make problems that never used to exist. Just hope my story might be a heads up for someone else.
