I am giving Bare minerals Pro foundation another try
Was just not happy with the BE loose mineral powder foundation. I have used the loose mineral foundation for years, it was beginning to settle in my fine lines.
Have used Pro foundation for 2 days now. I do not like that brush you are suppose to use with the new Pro foundation. I am using a small flat spatula and scraping some of the foundation into my little flat dish. Am using my IT brushes to apply the new Pro foundation.
So far am doing OK with the Pro foundation. Hope I do not break out with this new Pro foundation.
I am aware Talc is main ingredient on the Pro foundation.

Read that many break outs from cosmetics are caused by brushes that are dirty. Be sure to clean your brushes and allow to air dry weekly if used daily.

Hi @viva923,
I was getting ready to start a new post on powder foundations in general, as they've always been my preference. I'm not sure if Bare Minerals is animal friendly, but I've been using a combo of the BE's loose minerals in the original formula and Smashbox Halo powder to achieve the right finish and color match for quite a while with good results. I'm pretty sure Smashbox owned by Estee Lauder does animal testing which I'm trying to avoid.
It would be nice to find the right powder foundation that's more travel friendly with the right texture and color, which I'm thinking I could with the vast color selections in BM Pro.. The reviews on BM Pro haven't been all that favorable- yet I don't rely on reviews all that much. I feel we should try these products for ourselves, as everyone is different. An example is all the people who loved JM's Matchmaker powder foundation, IT Cosmetics pressed powder in both formulas and LG's Balance and Brighten. They simply don't look good on me.
The method I use before applying minerals prevents them from looking dry or finding fine lines and accentuating them- the reason most of us who are older stop using powder foundation. This is so long winded.. so let me get to my question.
I wanted to ask you about the finish you get with Pro. How would you describe it? If you've tried Ready, how does it compare. I've never been a big fan of BM's Ready foundation even though the Medium Tan is lighter in color, so the match is spot on. I travel with it in a pinch and also Pur minerals which are good- but the shade is slightly off. Hence I'm still on the hunt and have been trying various foundations- especially pressed powders.
TIA for any more information about the finish you can share. I'll get into my method of prep before minerals in another post. This one is already a novelette. :-)

I'm off to go to dinner, but will try to post later tonight and share how I keep powders looking good at my age, and talk about the new powders and few other foundations I've explored lately.
Again, thanks for any detail you can give on Bare Minerals Pro! It would be fabulous to hear your take on this one!

Fun Loving,
I did use the Ready foundation and I did break out from the Ready foundation. The color match was bad too. Ready foundation has been discontinued
The Bare Pro foundation does apply quite nicely. To me, it is like a silk . It applies very smoothly. I do know you DO NOT need much of the foundation. This Bare Pro gives excellent full coverage. A little goes a long way.
I was told you have to use the special brush for Bare Pro foundation. I have the brush and do not like it so I just use my small spatula to scrape off a little in my small flat plate and use my IT kabuki brush to apply the Bare Pro foundation.

Thanks for the input, @viva923 and @Sweet_Serenity. I don't detect sparkle in any of the powders except for IT's Illuminating Powder. This does make me want to try it though.
I happened by Ulta during their 21 day sale and picked up Laura Geller's Double Take Foundation since they don't sell her Baked Elements- at least the store by me doesn't. Geller's Baked Elements was suggested by @HappyDaze who has given me some of the best product recommendations. Neither one of us likes Balance & Brighten, which for me is way too heavy and cakey looking, even when applied with a light hand. I need minimal coverage.
Anyway, the SA encouraged me to try LG's Double Take and simply return if I don't like it. I've never been crazy about any of her products except for her B&B Blushes and Vanilla powder. I got some great freebies with purchase as part of their 21 day promotion. I'm thinking if I need to return it, I'd try Bare Minerals Pro instead. Surprisingly this Geller powder seems nothing like Balance & Brighten and matches my medium tan skin tone... yet can't be sure just yet. Need to test drive a few more times since I've only used it once.
Then... as much as I hate paying shipping, I went ahead and ordered a couple of shades of Baked Elements from the Q to try. It's so hard to guess at foundation, but won't hesitate to send back if it doesn't work.
Yes...I'm on a serious roll to find a compact powder I love... lol.
One last question for @viva923 if you don't mind. You said you scrape off a little in your small plate to apply. Why don't you use it straight out of the pan? Is this a trick to make pressed powder foundations look better or something? I've never heard of anyone doing this before. I must say I have much better luck with loose powders. Interesting...
Thanks again for your experience with Pro @Sweet_Serenity @viva923.

I was told by a manager at at Bare Escentual store (who had just come back from a seminar for the Bare Pro foundation). NOT TO USE ANY BRUSH with the Bare Pro foundation unless it was the brush being sold as a set in the Bare Pro foundation. Cost of both items is 60 dollars. I was told if you use any brush but the BE Bare Pro foundation brush it would ruin the foundation (dry it out).
I bought both brush and Bare Pro foundation at Ulta. I used that brush once and really DONOT LIKE that brush.
I don't want to take a chance that another brush could ruin the Bare Pro foundation I just scape some off into my little flat plate and use my IT brush to apply the foundation.
As I said, I DO NOT know if this is true about using any other brush but the BE Pro foundation will ruin the foundation. Just don't want to take a chance.

I ordered this foundation, waiting for it to get here. I do not need full coverage, but loved the look on the models, so decided to give it a try, although I am in love with my Eve Pearl foundation and wear it almost every day, but this will be a nice change if it works out for me!I ordered mine off of QVC which includes the brush. I also like BE Serum foundation a lot, but it is too hard to get out, so I get frustrated. If they could improve that I would wear that one again as well, especially in the winter months, as I have combo skin, and I definitely had to wear a finishing powder over it!
