Am I the only one in the world who can't curl my hair with a curling iron?

I have tried over and over with several different kinds of irons. I just can't curl my hair. It never looks good. I watch ladies on Youtube, and they just curl their hair so easily. (I might add my hair is long and I have lots of it. But before my hair was long, I still was unsuccessful with a curling iron). So I always go back to my hot rollers that do an excellent job. I am VERY thankful for those! So, am I the only one that just can't use that tool?

My hair is curly but I used to use a curling iron to smooth and make curls anyway. It's important to pin the hot curl with a hair clip or bobby pins and leave it til it's cool. I never successfully used a blow drier.

No, you're definitely not the only one. I would also watch YouTube videos and they made it seem so easy. Occasionally I could make the curls look half decent on one side but then not so much on the other side. Now I just wear my hair straight and don't bother attempting to curl it.

You're definitely not alone. I have very straight fine hair that is resistant to curling... Except eith hot rollers. This hasnt always been the case, in my teens and early 20's an iron worked great. Not sure what changed - my hair or curling iron technology (ion, ceramic, titanium etc...).

My fair is short like Judi Dench. I have bought so many curling irons over the years and never had any luck, trying to manipulate any of them. NCan't get my hair around them, can't keep my hair on them, burn myself constantly. Obviously I am curling iron challenged.

My hair is fine and naturally curly. As a teen, I used a 3/4" curling iron to straighten my hair. At most, I had gentle waves. I'm glad I got over it and embraced my natural curls. If you have a method that works, keep it. Less likely to burn yourself with hot rollers than irons, anyway. The best iron for creating curls would be about 1/2" to 3/8" inch in diameter. The rest usually create curls that are too loose unless lacquered stifff with spray immediately after the iron is removed from each section.

My hair is thick and so straight that I have a hard time getting it to wrap around a curling iron and when it does, the curl doesn't hold. The only way I can get some curl is if I get a perm.

If your hair is long, OP, of course you're not going to have success keeping a curl by using a curling iron! Get it cut! Your hair will bounce right into a curl!

You sound just like me I thought I was the only one in the world that couldn't use a curling iron. I have tried over and over again and I can' curl with it either. So I curl my hair with a flat iron which I learned how to do on you tube. No need for the curling iron any more.

I have never been able to use a curling iron or a flat iron. I use the Perfector by Callista Tools and it is the best hair tool I have ever used. I even have a second one stored away in case it ever stops working. I have fine, wavy, shoulder length hair. I can use the Perfector to give soft curls all over or just turn my ends under for a smooth look.
