Would you be able to color your hair?  I do mine at home with a $10 box of color.  I'm happy with it.  It makes a big difference.  That's what I should be doing right now.  When I finish coloring, I look in the mirror and say "welcome back" Smiley Very Happy

Glad the difference makes you feel really good.

I used to color it at home but my hair quality changed.

It previously had high-porosity and took color well, plus the color would last pretty long - even on the gray and white strands.

But over the last 7 years it became low-porosity, to the point where I would have to color it way too often and that would affect its health.

However, what I did change recently is its length - at home on a whim, lol.

I just grabbed my scissors and cut a few inches off, so it's now at my shoulders.

@feline groovy   I'll add one: exercise! I consider exercise "makeup for the body" and I look and feel my best when I lift weights and do my 80's aerobics VHS tapes.  Another quick and easy one is giving myself an at-home beauty facial. Smiley Happy

@mildoo   I am obsessed with "Color Me Beautiful"! I own the 80's "Color Me Beautiful" book, the fabric seasonal color swatches and the "Color Me Beautiful" VHS tape! I'm a Spring Smiley Very HappyHeart

I still have my materials, tool  From the 80's.  But, after all this time I know the stuff by heart.  Glad to hear someone else out there still follows it, too.

@mildoo  That's so great that you're a fan of "Color Me Beautiful" and have the materials still Smiley HappyHeart! Isn't it so great to know your season? And its so freeing to know the colors that don't work on me too. It makes shopping for clothes fun because I just bring my Spring swatches in my purse if I need to use them for reference in purchasing an outfit. Smiley Happy

I never had swatches of my own but I don't guess I needed them.  The colors that I was told looked best for me, I was already buying and still do.  And I don't look good in white, but winter white/cream looks great.  It doesn't get cold enough (for me) to buy coats, but I will occasionally feel the need for a sweater jacket.  I have three now.  The first two are dark blue and dark purple (both with cool undertones).  This year I added a winter white one.  I have a pair of light chocolate gloves with light choc and winter white pom poms on top.  So the winter white sweater jacket and the gloves look so nice together (for what it is).  I don't have fancy coats since I'm not a coat person.  As fancy as it gets for me is a dark blue suede jacket.  Currently 54 degrees here in Texas.  That's flip flop weather!

@feline groovy  A happy smile on your face, and 8 solid hours of good beauty sleep. Good hydration, healthy food, and a good skin care line always helps too.

@KittySoftPaws  These are good and important.

Re: Altering your appearance

I lost quite a bit of weight a few years ago. With 70 lbs less of me. I now have my hair blonde and I dress totally different. A few people we see around town didn't recognize me and thought my dh remarried. HaHa! We laugh about that all the time!

My theory is "If The Barn Needs Painted

Paint It"!  My barn needs painted so that's what I do.

Also, I agree with wigs. Years ago, I started loosing hair on the top, front, and crown. My wigs give me lots of confidence and make me feel somewhat pretty again. Trying on wigs can tell you what the best length for your face is. I have found that shoulder length pulls my face down but just and inch or two past my chin is perfect right now in my 70's.
