I posted earlier about Eva Marie Saint's wonderful zest for life at age 89 and her advice to "go with the flow" about aging - not fight it but accept it. Most of that post was about having a positive attitude as we age - although I did mention that Saint has kept slim, still colors her hair, and dresses stylishly - and is in good health from exercise and a sensible diet.

Just wanted to add that I am all for doing whatever makes someone feel good about themselves cosmetically! For me that means I will always wear make-up and color my hair!

What I don't plan to do is obsess over - and have a war against - wrinkles as I get older. I'll use creams with Retinol - Neutrogena has a fantastic one, lol - and other things to try and keep them at bay. I'll exercise, maintain a good weight, and try to get plenty of sleep. But surgery and Botox will never be on my radar screen! However, if someone wants to go that route, that's great! To each her own!

Bottom line - do whatever makes you feel good about yourself and I think you will age gracefully!

Aging gracefully involves accepting and even embracing the changes, challenges, and blessings that come with age and maturity. It includes recognizing that youth and even life itself (at least life in this world) aren't forever. While we should do what we can to care for our bodies, health, and appearance, tending our spirits and relationships is even more key to joy and fulfillment in our later years. Love, joy, peace, and wisdom give us a deep and genuine beauty that no blush, lipstick, or foundation can ever give.

So beautifully said. Thank you GoodStuff!

Aging gracefully is no botox, no fillers, no facelifts, no heavy makeup and no died hair. You know you're going to age and eventually die no matter what you do . You are at peace with all that.

Aging gracefully to me would describe my mom. She is 75 and has never complained about her age, takes care of herself, is always groomed, wears appropriate makeup, takes long walks daily and is genuinely cheerful. I will do my best to follow in her footsteps.

Aging gracefully means.....

Rely on God. Talk to him every day.

Don't worry about those wrinkles - you earned every one of them.

Enjoy life. Look at the positive, not the negative. See the glass half full even in the worst of circumstances.

Relax.

Remember....no one will ever put on your tombstone "She was a good employee"

Aging gracefully to me means embracing your life and enjoying all the gifts you have been given. Loving friends, family unconditionally because you now realize how fragile these things can be. Paying things forward and giving back to the village that has been there for you and now you can be someone's village. Being gentle with others feelings and not being judgmental. Just being loving and embracing the love of others. Aging gracefully from the inside out.

That is incredibly beautiful, inciteful and shows who you are as a woman. I too feel the exact same way about my mom. She is my hero and practices all the attributes you described. I love how she takes care of herself and she has taught me by not just word but example what a truly beautiful, strong, woman she is...both inside and out. She is so beautiful outside but even more beautiful inside. By the sound of it, just like your mom.

To me it means being my authentic self.
