Funny you started this thread because I was just thinking about what this means too. I am offended by the poster that thinks that by coloring our hair (Silver Fox thread) means we are not aging gracefully? Thats a crock...

I caught that too. Maybe it's defensiveness. I don't know. I don't understand the whole issue at all.
I also don't understand what aging gracefully means. I just have no clue.

Beauty is not how wrinkle-free your face is or how you wear your hair -- it helps! but beauty is the whole package, inside and out. Your appearance, your confidence, your overall attractiveness, and that includes your personality. To me, aging gracefully is being true to yourself (as others have said), taking care of yourself, keeping your body healthy, being happy and confident. Staying active and interested in life. Being a positive person, kind to others. Accepting the passing years and being the best you can be, whatever age you are.
And, I have to say it -- most of us who retire and do not become "old" immediately (as someone above said). I retired, went back to school, have a lovely fun new career and volunteer. We travel at least once a month. I didn't just sit down and start complaining. My retired friends live life much the same as I do -- we are getting better as we age. I honestly don't know when I had time to work full time!

Some might say I could age more graceful if I put a filter on some of my thoughts here on the forums.

To me it is looking in the mirror... and rather than hating parts of me that do not look like a magazine cover, I just embrace what I have and who I am... be grateful that I am healthy and well... and go on with my day. I will always stride to look my best... and take good care of my skin and body... but I will not go to the stretches of surgery or such to reach that so called best. It is OK to just be who I am where I am.
I did not want to offend anyone by my thread on being a silver fox... I just think too many people say that we look OLDER than we are not coloring our gray.... Older than WHAT I say? We can be beautiful and grey. I choose to age gracefully... and grey is just what I have. It is a choice like any other choice. There is not wrong or right choice. You can age with or without color.... you are the age you are regardless of what you do with your hair.

There is something to be said for aging out loud.

You sound like a role model for growing older and embracing it. I hope I'm able to do much of what you've described. Good for you!

For me, it has been knowing which battles are worth fighting & which aren't. Surprisingly, most aren't, which leads to a much calmer life. Anger & stress age us more than anything else.

You said that perfectly gazelle in #24.
One thing I noticed tho because I am now realizing I am getting older after 50 (4 yrs ago), but it just hit me lately my hair is making me feel old. I did a henna last week and I feel like it lifted my spirits alot but aside from my normal skin regimin I have no desire to take that any further.
I think what makes each one of us feel happy and healthy is important, I just chose to go as naturally as I can.
