Re: African black soap users- help please!

I bought mine from Coastal Scents & it is just African Black Soap. I could only use it every few days. It was very drying, but my sister uses it every day, I think. She has more normal than oily skin (Mine is combo/oily) but it doesn't dry her out. So it's YMMV. My problem was not with acne, but with products causing my breakouts, so once I figured that out & quit using those products, my face cleared up on it's own & I don't use the ABS any more. My sister still uses it, just because she likes it.

My husband and I both use Dr Woods Shea Vision Pure Black Soap with Organic Shea Butter for our face and body. This is the best I have ever used. We have been buying it from Vitacost for about 2 years now. It is between $7 and $8 for 32 oz.

I don't know how to insert a picture, but I would if I could figure it out. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

I have been using SheaTerra Rose Hips Black Soap Facial Wash. I am 70 years young and love this soap. This has kept my face from Milia's which I tend to get. I have also given to my 16 year old Granddaughter and it has really improved her face breakouts. Go to SheaTerra website and there is a couple of other websites to order from. Good Luck!

I also use BS & bought it from Coastal Scents. I buy it on Black Friday when they have 50% off. I like the Nuna bar in the box. They have scented & unscented otherwise those 2 have the same ingredients which is more then just black soap. It does have shea butter in them. I think if it did not it would be too drying. You can see the ingredients on their site. I also have their liquid black soap. I had better luck with Isomers daily exfoliating cleanser with tea tee oil then I do with the bs. I kept having breakouts from hormonal changes with menopause. I never had acne when I was a teenager. Nothing I used worked until I used the Isomers. I'm on my 2nd bottle of the cleanser & have not had a breakout since it cleared up after using the 1st bottle. It does not work overnight so if you try it give it time. The Isomers is $35 for 2 8oz bottles. I use the Isomers Retiniacin to clear up the red scar marks left from the acne. It's the only thing I found that worked for that.

Re: African black soap users- help please!

Hi lynbeechwood,

For my face, I use the SheaTerra Organics Rose Hips Black Saop Facial Wash daily. I have dry skin and oilier t-zone during hot weather. I started off every other day. It doesn't dry out my skin, but I do use STO oils to moisturize after washing. I love it! It really does keep my skin clear and clean.

For my body I use the STO Black Soap body washes and bar soap when needed, or about twice a week. It usually tames any irritations that pop up on my skin. It can be used daily; I just like to use my other flavored body washes in rotation. The STO body washes come in various scents too - I like the mango a lot.

Mind you, black soap can sting a bit on blemished skin, especially the face. Leave it on 15-30 seconds if it does and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Rinsing really well. Sometimes I do a mask with it and leave it on for a minute or two to really deep clean.

With your acne episode, try to cleanse out your insides too. Drink a LOT of water all day long, not only all at once. The MINIMUM amount of water suggested is half of your body weigh converted into ounces. (Example weight = 130 >> 65 oz. minimum to drink daily) Refrain from too much sugary, fried or processed foods. Eat as much fresh live foods as you can - vegetables & some fruit. This will clean you out from the inside too. Smile HTH

Re: African black soap users- help please!

For moisturizing I use the STO Dessert Date Oil or Marula Oil, Tamanu Oil for any bad breakouts or even scratches, scrapes on my body - it has anti-imflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. You only need a couple of drops for your whole face. Pat on instead of wiping on the face. The oils soak right in and does not make my skin greasy, unless you put on way too much. I usually can add more in the colder months, especially to any dry patches. The Tamanu Oil has a stronger scent to it if you are scent sensitive. I don't mind it at all and don't smell anything after a minute or two.

If you plan on ordering from Shea Terra Organics use Jan2014 for thirty percent off.
