Advice needed on LG matte maker powder...

I just ordered this and saw that it comes with a fan brush. I've never had any luck with this type of brush. For the ladies who use this...what is the best way to apply? I am in my late 40s and don't want this to emphasize fine lines.

I'm hoping this helps my combination skin that tends to get a little shiny (in spots) by mid afternoon{#emotions_dlg.unsure}
